LOL, Tackle shops with their shiny things in pretty color's....I go right off the deep end with them :D

Actually I have a decent variety of lures, but always seem to lean towards jig's, crawler harnesses, bottom bouncers or plain ol hook & sinker...which btw the wife reminds me of whenever she happens to be in the goody store with me.:(:D

I do like that pump, pretty cheap too. The only thing you need for it is a hose right? I need to replace my existing hose too as it is corrugated and that is bad for water flow.

LOL :D I did forget about Dozer's ideas for storage, thanks for the reminder. That is an easy and cheap way to hold those plano boxes.:)

Yep. Nothing but a hose. I think Wal-mart has inexpensive pump plumbing kits.

Re: '79 Starcraft SS 16 restoration

I'm with you on the backwards order of doing things. I have been rushing to get mine in usable condition(which it is now!) and probably should have taken the time to do a lot of other things while it was apart. I did deck/transom and still haven't painted the hull :( I'm torn as to how I'm going to go about painting the hull this winter still. With that said though, being able to use the boat this whole summer is going to be awesome! The interior of mine should look great and you can't see the hull in the water anyways!

Lesson's learned :p

awome cool pics and vid...love that boathouse....guess they really sunk those timbers deep to keep all that weight out of the water!

Bet there will be BOOKOO mosquitos in the summer on that river!

Sorry the fishin was that great... :-( mebbe next trip ... hit your secret spot (the SS) and make up for it.....

Mike did you guys get soaked? or was the bimini good enough to keep ya dry?....guess a small tarp and couple bungees might help keep water out of the boat for those torrential downpours....

Thanks Paul...no bimini yet so we got a nice soaking:D

The weird thing was last year there were zero skeeters out there...this year they were only bad in the canal where the water is stagnant. I guess the current is swift enough to keep them from hatching:)

We had a great time even if we came home with empty coolers(well at least we drank all the beer;)).

Give me a shout if you happen to head back to Michissippi(our new name) to visit your brother.

I was hoping to check out the sleek in september but my buddy's bachelor party got moved to Windsor, Ontario instead of the proper location.

Paint sounds good to protect epoxy if you plan to cover. Be careful with sand, it might wear down the cushions later. Kicker mount could go now or later as long as you plan to keep it in the exact place.

I know I'm a little late on this topic, but I'd definitely mount the kicker now so you can work out the best spot for it BEFORE it comes time to drill holes in the pretty, nice and new transom wood you'll be putting in place.

Hey, good video too! Felt like I was sitting in the bow with you guys. :D

I thought I'd post some photos of the stainless steel rod holder installation. Easy job and very convenient when you're done.

I decided to put them where the old downrigger mounting bases were previously. This made it kinda tight with the 1-mile light on the starboard side but it worked out.

Drilled a whole(2.5" maybe) that would end up being the wrong shape due to the 30 degree angle of the piece. It ended up being an oval.

I placed a 2x4 under the gunwale so my hole bit would have something to bite into and hold it in the right spot to lengthen the whole.

It worked well and I didn't even bolt it down, just held it there as tight as I could while drilling.

Here it is prior to being bolted down. I'd like another 4-6 of these on the rig since they make fishing easy whether trolling or anchored. The angle keeps my lines far off to the side and away from the motors.:)

Thanks TS, yeah I'm getting anxious to just bolt that thing on and use it for my minn kota or the 5.5hp:D

You should be glad you weren't with us when that rain was dumping on us though!

Here are some photos of the setup. It sure is nice to keep the rods off the deck and the tips up;) I need some rail-mount or flush mount for the bow next so we can keep three lines down each end of the boat.

I will be removing these and filling the holes with jb weld patches prior to painting.

Also on the agenda is getting this rusty anchor stripped of the old white paint, primered and painted a bright color.

I'm not a huge fan of this rusty thing sitting on my brand new marine vinyl deck and leaving rust stains so it's a priority.

I have a bad history of losing anchors so I'm going to paint it yellow and keep my mask and fins on board.;)

JB Weld is great stuff, very tough but takes a long time to cure. When it does, it's rock hard, I've been using quite a bit of it lately for dents & holes.

I like your kicker!

It's all looking good.

Looking good Mike, in fact really sweet with that johnson on her :p:D
Your net in the holder brought back a memory of a highway, a bird and the end results which led to future stowing of the net while traveling lol...not a pretty sight but could work well for de-plucking a chicken if the need every arises :D

Thanks Lakelover...I'm glad you folks appreciate the ol' Johnnyrude kicker as much as I do...I will keep that little OB the rest of my life and hopefully pass it on to the my little guys if I take good enough care of her:D

Well just throw another coat or two on her or save the rest in case you get a ding or two on the rig:)

I think I'm gonna go with a mustard/goldenrod but the bright yellow is great too:D

LOL I have a visual image of what you're describing...and it is cracking me up Kenny:D

Did you get a free thanksgiving turkey in the net? LOL

That reminds me...I still owe my dad a salmon rod...as it turns out the trees on his two-track leading to the hideout on Lake Huron like to grab poles when you leave them on the SS holder on the Seaswirl's hardtop:eek::redface:

Re: '79 Starcraft SS 16 restoration

I am happy to report that I successfully launched the SS at my favorite fishing hole this afternoon:D

I wasn't 100% sure that the draft on the rig was shallow enough to splash at this particular lake...but we managed to paddle her out from the landing thru all the lillypads...which also lacks a dock...and we proceeded to have an absolute ball reeling in all the usual suspects.

A plethora of Bluegill and Redear Sunfish...also Rock Bass...Largemouth Bass...and two nice size Catfish. Sadly no Yellow Perch bit our hooks today but that's ok I guess.

I hit the water with my dad-in-law and my older son...and had an absolute ball as the action was hot and heavy:cool:

I will try to post some pics but I have lots of fish to fillet:)

The first Bluegill...he put on his lifejacket all by himself too! (I finished the job after the photo).

This is by far the smallest largemouth bass I've ever seen caught on a hook.

Always fun landing a catfish.

A nice healthy bass...not sure why my son is throwing up gang signs:D

This thing was a weird fish...looked like a Rock/Largemouth Bass hybrid.
