Hey. Nice video and pics. It looks like you are doing it right and enjoying the boat.

Cool river pics. At that clip you might end up in a differnet state. It look like the engine is running well...

Yah buddy, you are a big boy at 6'5". That rig looks small by comparison to ya. I think you need a bigger boat, have you considered the Islander series. You might want to look into it:D

What an awesome looking boat house. I love it. And I can relate to the 6'5". I am too, and have the scars to prove it. Now, if I can drop about 50lbs off my 275, I'd be much happier. I was looking at raising my windshield around 4" but time restraint has me putting that idea on hold for now.

You have step ladders in Newfoundland?!! Is that so shorta**es like me can occasionally get a glimpse of the sun? ;)

LOL. You will need more that step ladders to see the sun over here. It's so damp here, I'm getting mildew on my kiwi's.

Looks like she's running good, nice looking river down that far. I've catfished back in highschool below the dam in Union City, kinda cruddy that far up. Lost a blade on the prop in the lake there too:eek:

So what was the haul? Those were some crazy storms Sat!
Terry

Not much of a haul...one 14" walleye(limit is 15") a few catfish and a big carp. Oh, and I also caught a nice size Rock Bass(red eye).

The storms were intense and the closest I've been to a real tornado:eek:. It touched down on route 12 and we saw some carnage from it on the way home. A full size camer upside down and tons of trees ripped out.

Thanks Sprint, we had a great time on the river and you are right, Indiana is pretty close, if not for the dams we could've cruised into Notre Dame territory.:D

I've heard of those, do you have one I could test drive to check it out?:D

You betcha! Though, you would have to make motor boat noises, make believe that you are actually floating on water and, in general use your imagination BIG TIME!!:D:D

sounds like a good weekend! those storms were intense. We got a ton of rain and winds up here. One of my ash trees split in half and is barely hanging on. Luckily, when it goes it should land in the marsh. Another neighbor had a nice maple (8" around maybe) snapped right in half! I'll try and get a pic of that. Glad you were safe out there. Take care.

Re: '79 Starcraft SS 16 restoration

So I'm trying to decide a few things...considering that I ran out of vinyl(doh!) I'm not sure what to do with the remaining bow pieces that are epoxied and ready to go in the rig.

I could buy more vinyl if I had the cash(I don't) or just paint them grey with a little sand for grip.

Cushions will go over these benches so they don't have to be pretty necessarily, just need some UV protection over the epoxy.

Also on my agenda(besides making it look like an SS again before I get kicked out of the armada;)) are mounting the kicker bracket and transducer for the Garmin fish finder.

I'm thinking I should wait until I rebuild the transom to mount the kicker?

Still thinking about how to add more storage to the rig too, while also keeping the layout as open as possible.

Ideas?:D

huron, not sure exactly what kind of storage you are after. Mine is a fishing boat first. The storage I'm planning on building in mostly revolves around the good old plano 11 x 7 x 2 (or thereabouts) storage boxes. With a dremmel, and the insert dividers they can be made to store just about anything less than 2" thick. I use a lot of them and they can be easily thrown in a bag or custom tackle bag. Plus, every store has their version of that size (cabelas, bass pro, gander, etc.) So, my seats will be made to hold them as well as a couple storage lockers under the deck and up front. Just a thought.

Mulligan, I do have to find a home for these two extra large plano boxes now that you mention it:)

I have 4 other large ones and 4 of the small ones too so I've been thinking the same.

I have enough room under the bow cap for one or two of the big ones so I might go that route.

The passenger dash could hold them too if I don't put the radio there.

Paint sounds good to protect epoxy if you plan to cover. Be careful with sand, it might wear down the cushions later. Kicker mount could go now or later as long as you plan to keep it in the exact place.

Good call on the sand/cushions problem, I hadn't thought of that yet. More vinyl would be way better for that reason. I was thinking the same on the kicker. I need to decide where I want it and make sure it's going to work.:)

passenger dash! What's that???

Yeah you don't have one of those do ya! Do your passengers sit in front of the console and get bugs in their teeth? :D

HA, great video, I am sure you had a ball fishing that tourny. I would be willing to bet if you thought about exactly where your gas tanks and stuff were to stay, you could find a space to install shelves or similiar to put those plano boxes in under the splashwell. Another 'must' for any boat that is left docked for any amount of time is a floater bilge. You put it on a 3 way switch. Off, on, and auto. When you leave the boat at the dock, switch it to auto and you never have to worry about checking it in rain, high waves, etc. My friends and myself have almost become submarine owners due to surprise storms that appear overnight:eek: Very cheap piece of mind. Don't think the wife would go for it, but I could live in that boat house and be very happy!!! :D

Nice vid...she sounds great cruising along smoothly

Whats up with all the tackle boxes? Rod, reel, a few hooks and a tin of crawlers is all you need...Yes I have a tackle box, weighs about 80 lb's, I use it for ballast ;)

Re: '79 Starcraft SS 16 restoration

Dale, I agree that I need another bilge pump that's on a float-activated switch. Even though I won't keep the rig at a dock very often, when camping and it's beached it will be needed for sure.

Kenny, I have a pretty extensive collection of spinners, crankbaits, spoons, buzzbaits and rapalas.

Even though I usually use worms...the boys love to check out all the different lures so it's good to have them on board during slow fishing days:)

I am planning on using the two huge plano boxes for dry storage of stuff like cameras, tools, batteries, and other electronics.

I've gone thru a few nice cameras and cell phones due to water exposure:eek: already so that is a concern.
