Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Thursday evening...quiet...no wind...no rain...Sitting in my office...doing a little work and I hear this loud crack....then a crash from a limb..then sparks and a loud pop of a transfomer blowing...never lost power at our place...but folks across the street did...

This limb fell and hit the feed to my pole light in side yard...imagine just being in the yard working and this falling for no reason...yikes...and it happens all the time with these old Pecan trees...

Pole across the street...I was worried the wire/cable were too low to the ground and might get hit and injure someone...power company came out and did not think so, cause it is still out there...I aint cutting it off there!

The anchor on the yard side....bent it like a hook...

Man, that's a lot of devastation from just a white poly chair falling over:

Glad there wasn't a live wire down in the neighbors yard. The power guys around here work hard quite a bit, but if they don't 'have' to take down a tree near their lines they don't. And if nobody's home, sometimes they leave the trimmed limbs lying where they fall .

But man, in the thick of a winter's storm, 24hr+ shifts..... Several local crews were in your neck of the woods after the big K came ashore, so mostly a good bunch :)

Glad you'll be free to get after the Ebko a couple days during the long weekend.

Ya JB they finally came and cut that limb off the wire for me...I chopped it up and took it back to the pile...which I have managed to burn all the way down...long hot day...need to get working on the boat...easier work!

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Nice warm day today...started sanding on the cap....

I have noticed these spots before and have been thinking about what to do about them...stress from the bow section of the cap flexing when the cap was picked up...when it is attached to the boat it really isn't an issue...but sanding/painting has me worried about what order to do thingd and have this area stronger...
DSCF0019.jpg

One thing I could do is put a radius in the corner of the bow seats...this plastics shows where, just does not show it as it would be finished..it would tie into the top there...a radius is much stronger than a corner...
DSCF0020.jpg

I did not have any cardboard...so used some of the foam I had laying around and made this..this would help both stress points...and would add a little "flair"....making it my boat..kind of hard to see but it only goes halfway across the front of the console...
DSCF0021.jpg

then I thought it would be better to have it go all the way across..didn't take the time to make it close to what I want...but you get the idea...

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Hope everyone is emjoying the Holiday!

I like the radius inside corner. I also suspect there's enough room on the back side of that corner & current crack, to add either ply or 1708 (both?) to further strengthen the corner & spread the load across a larger area.... And cut down on the new glass needing lots of attention on 'can be seen' side.... So I'm good either way ;)

The foam addon...... hmmm.. I like the 2nd larger version, but it will be easier to give it a firm thumbs up when the mockup is more close to it's final look. Caveat: The additional foam pitches any water that gets on it (rain, water spray from hitting a wake, dew, condensation, etc) into the boat & seat area. Before it pitched it outward toward the gunwale rail & back along the gunwale... I do like it better, and if you can store the boat well covered, with all your improvements & attention to detail, its probably a non-issue.-

I like anything that improves and makes our boats more "personalized"...

Took the liberty of playing around with your idea...it is kind of like the biggest piece...

Yep I like the look also . It would let a little water drain in now and then but it wouldn,t be any fun if ya didn,t get a little wet !:p

yup GT nailed it...thinking it would be easier to work with cardboard...not as messy anyway...i'm thinking I need to put the cap back on before adding this though...
