As long as its been sanded you can re-coat it with no problems. Sanding through is common, and a bit frustrating, but happens to everyone that does this type of work at one time or another. .
Trooper, I'm curious how much gel you went through. I had a similar experience when I did mine. I layed down several coats with a 2.3 mm tip, thought it was good and started sanding. I was nowhere close to good. I am not an expert but if you sanded through that relatively flat spot I think you need to spray the entire boat again. I think I may have mentioned to you if you don't have peel and a couple of runs the gel
probably isn't thick enough. Just my .02 good luck looks great so far
Troop I would have to agree w/ Gator if your sanding trhough with just 320 I would plan to re-spray after sanding the entire hull just my 2cents . It's a shame after all that hard work too
Thanks, that makes sense...Before deciding on an entire respray sand the rest of it and see if it actually needs to be resprayed.
She sure looks good sittin on that new trailer !
Sweet, the Ebko is back on the trailer!
Here is the wife's part of the new house....
Hey Trooper
You sure have alot of irons in the fire.
The hull looks fantastic setting on the trailer.
I had some blead thru today also. I started with 180 grit on the DA. The majority of the gel did fine except where I did some repair work on the side of the hull.
Good luck with everything you have going on.
Looking cool, Troop...the Ebko looks right at home...
Now don't freak out and get all panicky with the million and one things you got to do, what with the move and all...just like the boat...slow and steady, one little bit at a time...
Have a great week!
Looks really good... All that sanding, filling and fairing on the chines really paid off... It looks factory...
Really coming together nicely.!!
good luck with the move prep...
This is so exciting, what a cute looking house and it has the white picket fence. Don't forget to schedule the family shoping day for winter coats for that new home. It gets mighty cold up there.
I can't wait to see the video production of the group spraying the gel coat. I think it might be time to buy some life insurance on the son in law. I think you should be a writer and create stories for all of us. Your first one could be the boat restoration called, "Boat Restoration: Why you need life insurance"! Oh, but I wish I was that age again where I was invincible.
.... Thanks.
AJ
OK, I am usually a man of my word...but....
When it comes to our boats, there are allowable exceptions in gentlemanly rules...all is forgiven...no violations, penalties or reductions added to the tally...
Carry on...
