Glad you made it back safe.
Did alittle reading on the gel. Said one cause could have been the hardner. Not enough or could be old.
Another thing was the gel itself was not thick enough for it to cure.
Either way, you can wipe down the gel with acetone and recoat again to try and get a good cure. You only need to redo
the area that the acetone will dissolve.

Actually I did see one that was hung up as a sign for a marina...

ok, got the pressurepot replaced...the new one works just like it should!....now I am ansey to get started spraying...but too cold :(

Guess I'll work on getting things ready to put the cap back in place. Like others here..I want the cap on when I spray...to help prevent any cracking in that weak bow section...

have you figured out scaffolding? I have used 2 ladders with a plank before when we were working on large rail cars, and it works out pretty good as long as you can find a stable place to set up.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

so I cut the wood to use for mounting the cap...3 pieces each side...was going to buy 1/2" ply but I have so much scrap from the 3/4" decided to use it. Of course it does not bend as well as the 1/2" but I have a plan...used SP's advic on boiling water and poured on a short piece to see if it would work...it bent rather well..I decided to mock up the boards with clamps..they actually pull up pretty close to the right curve dry...so...should I wet them down with boiling water, then let them dry out..or just do it with the wood dry?

Wet them down!

When dry they only need to flex that last little bit to match the INSIDE of the lip's contour... Besides once bent, they will be so much easier to work with, apply PB & clamp into place ;)

It was nice to be back working on the boat after a week off. I fixed the one spot I needed to put 1708 on...and made some more fairing compound and filled some more...was cool today, but thinking it will be OK...I also got the wood strips bent that go up by the bow...maybe put them in tomorrow...weatherman says nice this Fri/Sat...hopefully it pushes out a day by the weekend and I get 2 full days to finish the things that need finished and start spraying gel :)

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

A week with no boat work...and my body is paying for it...arms, hands, feet, legs and back are all sore!

Started the day off with some sanding...followed with some more sanding...then I got tired of sanding so decided to fix that one spot on the hull that I put the csm/1708 on the other day...
Sanded it out and had a rather large area that was still too low...so cut some more csm/1708 and put it on...

Decided the strips I wet down yesterday wer dry so took them off...they are bent pretty good, and are flexible enough to fit the required radius when it comes time to mount them...this coming week I will get them all mounted...

pulled out the aircompressor and started using the airfile on the rear section...think it is about as good as it needs to get...hard to tell from the pic, but it is nice and smooth...It'll do...
