Decking looks real good, sealed up and riveted down nice n tight. :thumb:

The shape of the bottom on these boats doesn't allow for much foam to go under the decking so every little bit helps for sure. In my Chief the majority of the under deck space for foam is a belly fuel tank so I wasn't able to get very much foam in like I wanted. You can only do what you can but just make sure every little bit goes in that you can squeeze.

It sure isnt easy to get it like the original stuff thats for sure

Thanks Hayko, got some more done today.

The bow is in after some fighting. I didnt cut the ribs out like most so there is slight elevation to it. Im ok with that, im even thinking about a larger front deck and cutting that one thats up there out to do it.




Can you spot the "OOOP's, I dont think that felt right moment?" No biggie, It's a good spot to have an oops I think!


Looks like carpet time this weekend and maybe some front deck demolition!

It was the drill bit. The one rib my added aluminum didnt go far enough up the rib to the side, I thought I hit it, but guess not. I through a goobered pop rivet in there. Not sure of the exact term of the area there, but its where the bulkhead and hull are riveted together so its pretty thick and sealed there already. Luckily I didnt go through any other rivets to make a larger hole!

I would never do that, gone. At least not on the side. I did it on the last rib near the stern, missed the rib completely. And never saw it until I splashed. :doh:

Oh snap! That was one of my biggest fears drilling rivet holes for the deck. I think the goop will be okay, if it leaks put some jb weld on it, but I think you'll be fine.

I can say that filling the hole with a blind and liberal use of 5200 will be pretty much a permanent fix. :thumb:

Got the deck carpet glued down, I really shouldnt let my helper walk on it, but its not doing any real harm. She likes having something to walk on now!




Made a little cover for the back end.




Staples only for this piece. No sealer or glue on it.





My hunting people say thats not camo color carpet, way I see it is from above the ducks will see water!




Covered that front piece with carpet too, look nicer that way. Staples only also for the time being. Got to finish painting now!

Front deck is cut out and new is cut and getting fitted when the little woke up from nap, give me a break to stop and think of possible motives for the under space.

Outside starboard rail support was short solid rivets on the end once I cut off the deck. So I added two pop rivets instead of messing with one solid rivet. Some where to the left of those pop rivets is a solid rivet but it wasnt in the support of the front deck anymore. Must have been from the P/O mod.





Not going for splash of the year, this is a hunting boat. This is the front deck out. Lower right rail is where I added pop rivets.

I only got one pop rivet in the starboard side rail. For the port I think I will need longer ones or use screws to catch the rail. but the angles I added did catch well and added some support for the time being!









Its out of order, but this is the under support of the deck now.



Thats about all I can do tonight, its clean up time.

No kiddin, I think once the deck is in it goes from just project TO boat again! I cant remember what it felt like until today how it is to actually walk in a boat. Just sayin Hayko, your ride is top notch killer dude! After this hunting boat is done, and I can move out of a HOA, Im gonna find a gem like yours to resto like a cadillac like you did!

Thanks pal, it was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I'm quite proud of it... Of course I was quite proud of it when it didn't look so nice too lol. This forum is pretty awesome, lots of excellent tin and craftsmen to draw inspiration from.

Got both side walls cut, glued and carpeted. Hoping to finish up some inside paint tomorrow and get these secured in.

Got more paint in, and a few large flange rivets to hold it in. I have to pick up a few bolts to finish it up. Got my teething small one home with me today though so maybe next weekend! Also still need to do some touch up paint with a brush, And I still need to get that front deck secured down more, but I thinking that one through some more.

Thanks GA and Wmann, my labs a house dog, so no wet dogs in this one. Im rackin my brain over the seating options. I could throw benches in no problem, but now Im thinking permanent storage boxes and movable seating?

The boat is usable and huntable now as far as I am concerned. Its the fact that I still need a motor keeping this dry docked.

I have the paint the registration numbers on and get the transom cap made still.
