So I decided to go with vinyl floor. Trying to figure out how to attach the wood floor when I’m done with foam. Going to use blind rivets. Should I just drill and rivet with some 5200 in the hole or counter sink rivet then use some epoxy over top. My concern with counter sinking is the risk that the rivet could pop the epoxy loose and make a space for water to get in the wood. Any ideas

I've done it both ways, countersunk on my Nova and skipped the countersink on my 16SS, both covered with the same Nautolux. I plan to countersink for my MR180. The Nautolux is thin enough to feel the large flange rivet heads underneath, but its really not that apparent. The countersink takes a little more time, and will be a much greater hassle if you ever decide to replace the deck again down the road, but my OCD mind feels it is worth it. I still dip the rivets in 3M5200 before popping them in, and skim over the countersinks with Marine Tex. With the sealed deck, 5200 through the holes, and the vinyl cover, I don't think you're really compromising anything. If that deck/rivet hole is subject to enough water that it's going to be a concern...you'll have bigger problems to deal with.

+1 with @MNhunter1

Countersink and fill in. If the rivet pops and breaks your epoxy you have bigger issues. (I am guessing you are sealing the whole sheet and not just the countersunk areas)

I've done both, wrapped the individual deck sections and the vinyl over the finished and riveted in decking.

Personally now I would do the individual section wrap on a fishing or a hunting boat as it would give easier and more options for repairs of a belly tank, damaged vinyl and the wrapped vinyl is more robust being glued and stapled.

Couple seat bases came in the mail today from the Springfield scratch and dent outlet. Went with permanent seats in the front then will do removable for the 2nd row. Didn’t need the base with the 1 flat side but the price was right. Shock height adjustable with slider. 2 7/8" post move 5" forward and aft 65ACFCED-4D43-4F97-B586-D16082B5359F.jpeg

Well did a leak test today. Was able to fill the boat then empty with some big totes on dollies while keeping the boat inside. Found about 10 rivets in the bow that leaked. I am just hoping I am not doing all this work to just have another dozen rivets leak in a couple years

lol

Don't we all. If you wanted, you could go and do a quick buck of every rivet...
You going to back coat with Gluvit or similar?

The problem is I got ahead of myself and already did gluvit

Ah, so these still leaked after the gluvit treatment. Are they the side rivets on the rib rivets that are leaking?

They were the rib rivets near the bottom of the bow. But they are replaced and good to go

Thanks. I used the $13 spray gun from harbor freight. Not the best gun but for the price it’s almost not worth even cleaning

I used many of their guns for different projects. Provides a decent finish for what we are trying to do and not break the bank.

Good to know about the sprayer. Ive considered that for mine now since i have a compressor. Did you add a hardener or anything else to the paint? It looks shiny and glossy, could just be the fresh paint.

Got the inside painted today. Used the majic tractor paint in ford grey even though it looks white. Pretty pleased how it turned out well

The paint was still wet in the picture but majic has their own hardener for the paint. I also thinned with just regular paint thinner since I was spraying. The HF gun is not a nice gun but it does work. There are some YouTube videos on how to set them up and operate a little better. But for $13 I was very happy. I used it this past summer on my job boat. Practice on some cardboard or scrap pieces first

Got some foam work done today. Still more to go. Really pleased how the paint turned out. I do have a couple sags but still happy. At the end of the day it’s a fishing boat so not too concerned with paint sags. 5D6E9F01-980C-412F-AF2E-CE6CBF4B3C3F.jpeg52BC8CE5-71DA-4A7B-AC77-AB187B13F02B.jpeg76D33499-6183-4246-B4CF-7B98933C28C3.jpeg
