PSU 31/35. PSU Running game sputtered despite having a couple quality RB. Clifford did pretty well but did give up a pick 6. For Perdue OConnel had a decent showing. Him and Jones will be a force this season
You are being a little generous with your assessment of Clifford. The one thing that rang true from the announcer last night is that he is a veteran QB for a reason ... if he was better he would be at the next level right now.
He over threw (the pick six among others) and underthrew receivers all night. His receivers didn't help him with their drops either. But that list drive was a thing of beauty. If he could have played the whole game like that last 57 seconds he was on the field, the score would have been 70 - 24.
The defense didn't play "Manny Ball" (new defensive coordinator, Manny Diaz) until the last 4 minutes of the game and the pressure amounted to more sacks than the entire game before that.
The game featured 7 lead changes. It concluded just after midnight ET. I had to be up at 3 to take someone to the airport ... I was hoping for a blowout so I could actually get some sleep last night/this morning!
