I am about to order the glass and foam material from US Composites. Is there a post already that has a materials list and quantities needed already? Scared to order the wrong thing, not enough, leave something out, etc.

WOG: Few questions before I press submit on my order...

-Do I need to purchase MEKP for the 435 Resin or anything else?

-I am going to Gel Coat the floor. Read I need at least 8oz on top. Two layers of 1.5 CSM and what?
Should my top layer be 6oz S Glass?

-You mentioned an exterior grade plywood lowes sales for the transom and stringers in another post. Can't find it. Know the name by chance?

-2# foam or 4#? This is a big wide ski boat.

Thanks!

-2# foam or 4#? This is a big wide ski boat. #2 foam is all that you need.

Thanks!

Touch up and sides to go!
Does the transome need to be grinded any more?

Hope to finish grinding today. If i fill in the strakes with peanut butter, do i need to glass over them as well before putting the stringers in, or will leveling the peanut butter suffice?

Did you put fairing compound or something on the transom? Looks to be a very different color than the rest of the hull.

on that subject, next would be a good time to ensure your transom is flat on the inside and out.

Something else to consider is that the transom inner and outer surfaces MUST be parallel and 2"-2 1/4" +or- 1/4" You should check the installation specs for your specific outdrive. Also take care when Glassing the inner part of the transom face to ensure it's perfectly flat.

I didn't add anything to the transom. I just lightly grinded it. Any further thoughts on it?
i have half a day left of grinding...never ending process... as the snow falls in summer!:smow:

Don't wanna jump to conclusions but in my opinion the glass on the transom should look exactly the same as the hull... if it looks different it tells me 3 things... either the glass was a dry layup from factory (doesnt appear to be the issue), the integrity of the glass and resin is compromised, or the transom has been replaced before and either epoxy or a different type/color of resin was used... Or a 4th possibility is the factory put a fairing coat on the transom to bring it into the outdrive specs...(but based on some things I've seen come out of a factory, I'd be surprised if that much care was taken.

IMHO the color of your transom glass is not an issue. There are a multitude of reasons and none of which will affect the new layup. Just make sure it's clean and the new PB will adhere to is just fine. I've seen just about every color of glass resin and none have failed to adhere to new fresh glass. You would easily recognize a bad, delaminating layup. I don't think this is the case.

I think i got scared of it and didn’t grind the previous layer of chop strand off. Check it out now. Minus a few corners and some touch up we almost have a canvas to create on now! US Compsites delivery on the way. Off to Lowes. Cut some grass and do some transom building studying. No FB practice this week... May get stuff done!

Prepping for transom and stringers. Tape is a rough lay out of previous support structure. Should i make the bulkheads one piece?

I’ve seen the two parts of the transom peanut buttered or glued together then encapsulated before installed. Also seen the two parts encapsulated separately and then glassed together before installed. Which is best way?

I would never take my opinion over Woodonglass ... but I feel much better about the way your transom looks now... probably was fine but I get paranoid.

Got both parts of the transom cut out today. Also cut other random compartment pieces like foot boxes etc. Glass material comes in tomorrow. But it’ll have to wait. Heading to Amelia Island after painting our football fields for 7 on 7 in the morning. Any Amelia captians who want to put the boys and I on some Reds let me know! My baby boy put this one in the boat about 4 years ago. Look at those smiles!

Yo, I'll ride along. I just looked into the "let's see your Celebrity" thread here on iBoats. Nice looking rides. You should have an awesome boat when you're done with this one. Plus, I'm still watching the entire fiberglass stringer rebuild process. And, while I watch, I'm glad that my boat is done and usable.
