Use a timing light. you have degrees stampt on the flywheel.
Factory timing on crossflows are 28? BTDC.
BUT I wouldnt recommend more than 24 maybe 25?.
higher can burn your pistons.
Disconnect carb linkage. You want to be able to give full "trottle" but the carbs have to stay closed.
If doing this out of water i recommend you to take of the prop. It can save your legs.
Connect timing light sensor at cyl #1. That is starboard upper.
connect water hose.
Start it up and give full power.
It wont rev to much, maybe 4000rpm.
adjust the timing stopper, in to decrease. out to increase timing.
