Quick Update . . .

Replaced Exhaust Tubes

I replaced the exhaust tubes yesterday and took the boat out a couple of times. It seems to like the new tubes better. I did not get a chance to do a good WOT test as the bay was not very flat (2-3 foot chop). I got the engine up to 4200 RPM, but could not really trim it well because we were bouncing around too much. Maybe today will be a little calmer winds and flatter seas.

Interestingly enough the new exhaust tube material was the exact same brand/style as the 20 year old material, even though I did not order it as such. (Trident brand)

Here are a few pictures of the new exhaust tubes installed and a look inside the old ones.

The new ones . . . nice clean blue labels

A look inside the old ones . . . the inner layer of the rubber had torn over the years and was restricting flow, etc.

I was also getting a low-level engine noise previously, which I had posted in the engines forum. That seems to be resolved with the new tubes as well.

:)

We took the boat out for the day and did the beaching and boating thing. On the way back, the seas had built up a bit to about 4 footers, so we tested out the repaired stringers fairly well. The only bad thing was that we came down fairly hard on a few waves and one of the sliding panels to the side storage compartment smacked into a piece of trim and cracked.

So, now I will need to order some plexiglass to replace it. . . . . . . Oh well, that's boating for ya.

Administrative Update:

I replaced some of the pictures on Page 1 of this thread with smaller versions that I have on my web page, replacing the larger versions that are on PhotoBucket. It took me a while to completely figure out the URL posting method, as some of my earlier pictures were from PhotoBucket and the rest are from my web page on Comcast.

Hopefully, the smaller versions will load faster, etc.

Oooppps, sorry Bear,

These computers, they are so sensitive . . . you might have to refresh or clear history from the browser??? All I did was change the links, the original pictures are still there on photobucket.

I tried both firefox and safari . . . and the new pictures do show up
