Thank you sir.
ok sweet man how are you? well first ?. did your boat come with that horsepower and if it didnt, what did you have to do to make it fit. and how did you run your wiring from the helm to the batteries. did you run any in front of the motor then to the batteries and how many batteries do you use? thank you very much. tim
Hmmm, well, the engine in my boat is a long long story, lol I'll give you the short version. Bought the boat with a new reman motor in her, the guy said his mechanic had already blown one up and his mechanic never got the one that replaced it to run correctly. Wife was having a baby and he didn't want to mess with it anymore. I thought my mechanic would surely be able to get her running right. Anyway, three motors later, my mechanic finally had enough with the omc stuff and ordered a mercruiser motor that came fully packaged with wiring harness, carb etc etc. The motor we choose is pushing 325 hp. A big plus on the old girl as the original 350 for these boats only had 260 hp. The new motor is still a 350, but is build to output more hp. So no extra room was taken or fitted for, its the same size as the old motor.
The wiring from the helm goes down the starboard side of my boat. If your boat is similar, it will have a removable dash panel, below that a removable foot rest and on the starboard side under the helm chair it will have a little removable storage box. Also the rod holder/box removes going back to the stern. Once all these things are removed, it will give you full access from the helm to the stern. I have two batteries with battery switch, one access hatch on either side in the stern to get to them. I run an on board charger as well. All of my wiring is run to the stern wall and up and around to the helm, zip tie or run pvc to keep it as high as possible. You don't want wiring laying in the hull where water can submerge it if any gets in there. Some wiring is to the front of the motor, like the wiring for the fuel pump, macerators, and bilge pumps just because it was the easiest place to run them. if you need pics of something, feel free to ask and I will take some. Hope that helps you some. Have you started a thread with pics yet? Ttys Tim, Budd
