Can't wait for some updates on your CC...hope you are able to score the new L/U...and whether or not you worked out anything on the LED lights...

Hey Gus, good to hear from you buddy. I have neglected my duties for a while on the projects for the boat but things are firing up as the weather is warming. It gets me motivated when its 85 degrees. WOOHOO!! Anyway, I have not given up on the underwater light project and will be working more on them soon. I am focused on getting a used outdrive for now. My mechanic says he might have one so I am dropping the beast off this Saturday to see if the drive he has matches my drives gears. If so, some cash and a couple days and I will be floating again. :) Hoping for the best because thunder over Louisville is a week a way!!! OMG :)

Also finally think I have a plan to finish the interior. Should be pretty cool looking when I'm finished. ;)

Redoweled, clamped and then sanded after 24 hours. This thing is solid now!

1 coat on the pulpit and 3 coats so far on the step pads. They will all get sanded between coats after 3 coats are applied. This will lay the varnish down more smoothly filling in the grains. By the time it is done, should be smooth all the way across. Really happy with the way they are coming along. This sh!ts so easy a cave man could do it. By the way, i am using spray can varnish. Can even spray it upside down. Bought at lowes for about 7 bucks a can. Should have less than a hundred bucks invested by the time I am done.

what did you use on your teak to make it look so nice? I have a swim platform that needs it bad and I want it to look just like your doors
!
Ok, so the boat was in rough shape cosmetically but was in pretty good shape overall. First thing I did when I got her home was took a long nap, it was a rough trip going to northern virginia to pick her up and a semi almost killed me on the way home. My truck did not appreciate the trip through the mountains at all! I got started by pulling off the coaming pads, they were original and just shot. You can see in the above pics all the teak had been dark stained for some reason by the previous owners. I took all the teak off and started sanding. I also bought some rough lumber teak to make some step pads for the gunnels. Bow pulpit, boxes under helm chairs, door for cuddy, and rear seat supports are all teak. I removed the side gunnel boxes and boxes under the helm seats to paint them because they were faded badly. Didn't have alot of cash to put into the boat at this point, so I was doing what I could afford. I am a big fan of teak and do realize its not for everyone because it does take constant maintenance to keep it looking good. I have thought about west systems or something comparable but for now teak oil will be the protectant.

In the pics, it was just sanded down good and then teak oil applied, three coats, let each coat soak for a day before applying the next coat. If you look through my thread, you will see I eventually did away with having to reapply teak oil and just redid everything with spar varnish. Good luck.

Apologize if this was stated earlier on......

Was the bottom ever sanded before the bottom paint applied? Looks almost brand new after you have removed the paint....

Yes, it was prepped with some sort of orbital or da sander. I had to sand the orbital scratches out with the film disks on a da sander.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Quick update fellas, I finally have a new (used) outdrive on the boat. It is for a 5.0 liter motor, but think it will work with a reprop. Have not tested her yet as the water here has been flooded and nasty. The drive looks to be externally in really good shape, it even has the original cobra stickers that are usually long gone. Anyway, hope to test this coming week sometime.

Also had help cleaning up the boat, my new gf likes boating and likes cleaning. YAHOOOO :)

I also installed the replacement radar that lowrance send me.It was a bonus under warranty because they were out of the BR-24 Radar so upgraded me to the 3G radar. Test in driveway prove to be working well and it is ready to go. I'm working on a sheil for it for trailering as well because branches and radars don't get along.

Finished my brothers remodel on his houseboat which included some led lighting. Finally got all the stuff I needed for the install including a nice wall switch to control them any colr you want. Will post up better and additional pics when I get time to upload some. Hope all is well with my friends.
