whaaaaaassssuuuppppp
and it is done!
i gotta admit, thats one heck of a work ethic you got there
you definately rocked that list.
but you left a few things off,,,,

- get business cards printed off

and

- check batteries in camera

i am stoked that you can splash her,,, and in time even!
also glad pop is feeling better and is knocking out his own list:D

all roses Budd, enjoy the fruits of your labor:cool:

Wasssuuupppp!! lol Your not getting my Bud Light! lol:D Thanks man. I plan to enjoy her as much as possible and funds permit this year. Won't be running her hard with the gas prices though.

I wish I was this motivated to go to work everyday. Only reason I get motivated to go to work is so i can buy something for the boat, lol

Just got in, spoke to soon, it is raining now, no worries though, hardtop baby! I had to go out and test the electronics and electrical systems at night just because.

My helm is looking more like a helm again. Wiped her down and tested the lowrance gear and the radar. All systems are a go. :) All lights on gauges working. overhead light working. step lights working, remote spot light working (my neighbors love me,lol)

Also wanted to see how those nice cleaned up underwater lights shine. The fence in the back is lit up pretty nicely!

Also installed all trim washers and screws at the helm and anything else that was missing screws or trim washers. There is an advantage to having all these lights on the boat, makes it easy to work on her after dark.

Thanks Mustang, I love CT, lived there for about 10 years, but think I'm wore out on the working on boats some, time to boat a little, lol :) I still have a huge list now that the push is over it should be a little more relaxing working on her.

Don't think there going to bother with a satalite veiw because enough planes buzzed the tower to let them know all was alllllll right! lol. It seemed as it got darker the more planes flew right over my boat.:) Even had the F22 come up river when I was heading to my parents boat and did a hard cut right over the boat. We were like 5 miles from the bridge at that point going to get warm. Will post more in a few on the events of yesterday.:)

Well, yesterday was eventful if nothing else.

I got the outer part of the cabin compounded and buffed off. Also the areas under the bow trim and the gunwales all the way around the boat. This ws tough to do because the whole morning it was drizzling here, pita wet and miserable and cold!

I had to scrape quite a bit of caulk, spar varnish etc off many areas fromt he work that was done, but it cleaned up nicely. I then used the starbright deck cleaner with ptfe to clean the decks.

Bow cleaned up

Stern cleaned but not compounded yet. Notice I have a battle coming with the vinyl guy this year. The gray stripe has completely burned up on the tops. Obviously a defective material, because the other vinyl is still perfect. I use 303 protectant also.

Top of cabin cleaned up.

Got the motor started again and warmed up and the boat loaded with all necessities and off to the gas pumps I went. By now it was 4:00

Putting a paycheck in her.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Had a video of the launch, but I guess something happened in the middle of the video because it won't load for anything.

Anyway, the boat ran flawlessly and all the upgrades really looked and worked fantastically. Every upgrade you make just makes boating better imo. When they all come together it really makes for an enjoyable experience. I see lots of fun days on the water this year for sure!

The weather was simply miserable. It was cold as heck and no matter how many layers I put on it was freezing. The good news is the new anchor worked great, held immediately and held tight. The engine cover definately quite down the noise and the bow trim and lights are just awesome.

The bad was, the air show really sucked because the ceiling was to low for them to really do what they usually do. the weatehr was freezing and there really was a damper put on the day. Most the boats were larger cruisers with plenty of heat and comfort. Probably the least amount of boats I have seen out there.

Next year I will be more prepared with a finished cabin and full canvas and heat. I headed to my parents marina around 730 full wot of coarse. I has not seen mph gains, but the conditions were different than when I did the first test last year. Will post more on this next time I drop her in. Videos will be coming.

After hanging in the nice warmth of my parents boat for an hour or so, we headed out armed with blankets and ear muffs to keep warmer. We arrived at the bridges just in time to take in the fireworks. The fireworks as usual were second to non. This truly is one of the best fireworks shows in the country if not the best.

Headed home right after the fireworks were over and got some much needed sleep. :)

Lantern $5, Canoe free stolen from side of river, beany cap 2$, life jacket $15, freezing your arse off and doing whatever it takes to get to thunder, PRICELESS! These guys definately had more balls than me! I love the lantern, awesome.

launchvideoof254seahawk051.jpg

Ohh, and had to cut the metal back a little to accept the new trailer jack for upward position.

launchvideoof254seahawk029.jpg

All I got until the videos upload. :)

Congrats on the splash and the boat looks awesome!!! Really did a number on cleaning her up and getting her looking new.

Also, if you do come to CT, I promise there would be no boat work, just drinking and enjoying. :D

Thanks JB, My family /I have had to weenoonaw canoes for many years. We use to tie aluminum bars across the two of them and take them out in long island sound to fish for blue fish. After I said what I did up above, i got to thinking, that was pretty fun back then and anything that got us out on the water was a good thing. The ohio is not a place I would want to canoe though, not with all the idiots we have here on the river and the current.

Glad to hear you got Dahl Fins II SPLASHED...too bad the weather was less than ideal, but it sounds like all of your hard work paid off...

Thanks GT, the boat was definately a success although she is pumping alot of water, an issue that I need to find out why. I'm usually pretty good in cold weather but the wind yesterday kicked our butts. Still a great day. :) The videos I took of the fireworks and the launch will not load to my comp, says error on the camera, probably operator error.

I was more phocused on keeping the boat in the right position and when the video of the launch was taken it was by my guest so who knows, lol

Thanks Mustang, I may have to come up with the boat for a week or two down the road and see my sister and do some fishing on the sound again. I know you said your more interior I think, but will let you know if I come that way. ;)

Lol, I wouldn't put it past you guys. I wish someone would have snuck in and taken some pics and video, lol :) Thanks Lil, Buggy. I am excited to see some warmer weather again now that I know she still floats and runs. Still have a bunch to do to her and test must be done and videod. :D

Congratulations CC!! Mission accomplished! Boat looks great.

I haven't made Thunder in a few years, but that was probably the single best fireworks show I've ever seen. Even beats the tar outta' Disney!

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Happy to report that I survived more then a handful of stupid...... Did I mention I've stood on the edge of the down river side of Wolf Creek Dam? So yeah, survived plenty of stoopiid! But the 1 time on the Ohio for Thunder was enough...

Lashed a few canoes together but only on a lake. The camp was the only users on a small impoundment.

Glad everybody had a good weekend! Esp those fortunate enough to SPLASH!

Have a great week.

After all of the horror stories about thunder idiots I had all but decided not to go before finding out I would be out of town that weekend anyhow.... now seeing and hearing from friends who were out there, what a non issue the traffic was I am quite sick over not being there.... oh well, maybe next year,.... I'm happy for you tho Budd. Really glad to hear of your successful trip.
