well today she ran like a top 4200 rpm was only 19/20 mph but she planed around 15 prop i used today was a 16x12 pitch, so i think i should go back to 15.5x13 or maybe even a 15.5x14 just to see what difference would be , im wondering if my prop size is too big , like if i went down to a 14x16 pitch i wonder how that would effect the boat this prop stuff is perplexing because nothing seems to add up to the calculators .

Nevermind! I just went through it again for fun and they changed it a lot. A year ago it was a way better prop wizard that gave you exact results, for how different props would affect your boat's performance.

yeah i am having a serious issue with prop selectors and pitch calculators because not one is correct for my real world tests so now im shy about what to go with , my thoughts are drop prop diameter and up pitch for example i was getting around 4200 rpm at 20 with a 15 /3/4x13 prop but when i went to a recommended 16x12 pitch i couldnt hit 20 and still had same rpm , so im thinking if i go down to 14 and go 17 or 19 maybe that would be better as maybe the 3.0 has a harder time spinning the big ole 16 " prop lol turning point recommends a 15x15 4 blade so not sure and mercruiser recommends as max speed a 14x19 and for economy a 16x12 .......

Well here's the hard part Mick.
You'll prob. have to spend 2 days on the water testing all the props till you have the one that works best for ya. Bring some traps and rods. :joyous:

Despite my user name, props give me a headache. I feel like I need to spend a week of research everytime I start looking at them... it's wizardry I say!

spoke to Phil at Turning point props , he thinks the 15x15 4 blade will be perfect so that's what i will try next:)
odd thing on timing i checked it today its set for 6, but at 1200 rpm it goes to 22 then at 3k its around 32 full in , seems like that 22 at 1200 would be kinda quick but engine sounds fine?
