Way to go, super nice video, thanks for sharing that. Be proud!

Thanks, my friend. Really appreciate it.

CONGRATULATIONS on a very successful splash Patrick!!! :hail:

What an AWESOME fishing boat! You guys are going to make a lifetime of memories on it!

Little Man's "Splash Dance" says it all!! :thumb:

EDIT: Johnny sounds AMAZING!!

Thanks, you were definitely a huge help in getting the motor running right. And, the "splash dance" though funny is not original... He was copying "Tons of Funk" (his favorite WWE tag team wrestlers):

Hey where are the CG approved spider man pj's ? :D Must of out grew um !

Oh, man, going way back there S.P. Too funny... Yep... you are one of the old guard that remembers that...

boat looks great loved watching the video.
thanks for sharing

That's great my friend! Wish I could have been there instead of in this hot shop working my booty off :joyous: My little project has been on hold and it's about to kill me to get back on it. :mad-new: Hopefully soon I can get back on schedule and find time to finish her up. Thanks for posting all the great pictures and the splash video. It's been a joy to follow you along in your journey.

Guys: Many thanks for the kind words above. I appreciate you following along and cheering me along. Still not to the finish line quite yet, but it does feel good to know that I can go drop my boat in the water when I start getting garage-fever.

hope everyone has a great weekend!

Peace +

Re: 1988 Sea Nymph GLS - 17'

Alrighty, small update:

Given that I have depleted my funds (and the extortionate cost of bow-mounted trolling motors), I figured I would have to live with the old "minn kota all terrain" that came with the boat. It had a crack in the control box cover (and was missing the "directional arrow"), but I thought I could live with it... However, when attempting to mount it, the control box cover quickly disintegrated into about 4 pieces (there was also nice-sized, but thankfully vacant, wasp nest in there):

So, my first reaction was that the motor was toast. So, I went and priced new trolling motors and after getting sticker shock once again I did a little googling for trolling motor parts and found a good supplier; So, instead of dropping $500 on a new motor, I got this part for about $50.00 (it came in a kit with new directional arrow, new little gear shims, a new light, etc...):

Here are the new guts greased up and going in:

Re-engineered one of those quick release mounts to fit my older-model motor (tricky install, had to shim it up a bit and got 5200 everywhere in the process):

And wallah - we have a bow mounted trolling motor:

That comes off in 2 seconds with the simple removal of the quick release pin:

I love to see old things fixed and reused, good job on the trolling motor. $50 sounds just right to me. I helped a friend sells his small plastic boat and he gave me to his trolling motor (probably quite a bit older than what you have there). I intend to use it too.

Excellent refurbish on a bottom feeder friendly budget, and with the new top section, no one would ever know you didn't pop for a brand new unit...

YUP! make everyone else think that it's new at the dock.. Along with all the other refirbed stuff on the Nymph... Great job on the troller.. Hopefully it'll pull you around like you wanted.... If not.. i'm sure you'd be able to get you 50 bucks outta it..

Re: 1988 Sea Nymph GLS - 17'

Thanks Guys: I did some additional clean-up on the unit last night, and its really starting to clean-up nicely!

Its only 33# pound thrust (so I know I will want and need more power at some point), but this should provide enough go-go juice for some limited trolling until I can replenish the money tree.

Its got a little transducer mount already on it, so I think I am just going to get a really low-end fish/depth finder for use while trolling, and then get a nicer unit one day (GPS, Sonar, Down Imaging) for my "control center" at the helm.

Weather permitting, I may try and take little man out fishing tomorrow a.m. Its a horrible time of year for it (hot as carp and the fish are generally lethargic and inactive), but maybe we can trick a couple of bass into biting very early in the morning before they hunker down.
