Last night was a long night. I started on the boat around 8:30pm and finished up around 3:15am. I got the lights, bilge pumps, blower motors, dash lights, trolling motor and foot switch all wired up.

I also got the door latches installed on the bow doors along with the brace underneath the bow seat. This thing is really coming together and I can smell the spray as I type this up.

I did discover my wiring on the driver side is installed in a pvc pipe which is going to prevent me from installing the t-top style frame I wanted to build. I am not giving up on the idea, just putting it off until a later date. I found a simple bimini top on Amazon for $104.00 I ordered to provide the shade I need while on the water.

If anyone is looking for one it is Best Choice SKY 1161 6' top. The bimini top comes with rear frame supports, storage bag for the canvas and all hardware. I don't expect it to be top tier but as long as it last for this season it will be worth the $100.00.

First the in the morning, I will get the boat tagged and a few other things finished up and then its LAKE BOUND!!!! I will give an update from the water and possibly include photos (video if the site would allow it).

I might just have to create a youtube page and provide links so I can show off the boat a little better. Photos never do anything justice.

I couldn't be happier. Engine and outdrive are running flawlessly. Boat handles as well as I remember. I think I'll just sit here and fish for a while, soaking up some sun, and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Went back out today. I have to say this boat feels like it did in 2008 except better. Still have things to finish but the hard part is done.

The Bimini top arrived yesterday so I began installation this morning. Perfect size and fit. Doesn't restrict casting decks and is approximately 72" tall. Overall a perfect fit and only $100.

I spent last night wiring up LED strip lights to install under the side panels of the boat. My plan for these are to turn these on while night fishing/fun nights and illuminate the entire interior of the boat without having it blind me. They will be installed on the inside of the trim pieces and facing the deck. I'm also mounting one 12" strip in the bow under each trim panel. These things are freaking bright and almost enough to light up my 2 car garage on their own. Once installed and wired up I will post photos of them turned on at night.

After you put the pedestal seating in, did you notice the gunwells flexing any more on the water?

No difference at all. My deck is glassed to the hull of the boat also. The boat is very smooth and tight.

Installed my LED lights on the sides last night. Need to make a few mods on the wiring/install but they will work out great.

So, I just discovered my gimbal ring broke on the left side where the trim cylinders mount. I get the damn boat in the water twice only to find this broke somewhere between the lake and the driveway. Who knows how long it will be before its in the water again.

Better to find the damage in the driveway now rather than in the Gulf. You've done a great job so far. Hang in there!

After looking further, I found the shop didn't tighten the nuts on the shaft the holds the cylinders in place to the gimbal ring. The nut, bushings, and broken piece off the ring are at the bottom of the lake. This failure falls on the shop. Taking it back tomorrow morning.

So I dropped the boat off Thursday morning. The mechanic was floored at why it came apart. When I showed him the following photos and pointed out there were no threads showing, he kinda hung his head. I felt bad for him but I told him I wasn't mad, I just wanted it fixed. Hopefully it will be fixed this week.

*note*. These photos were originally posted the first time I floated the boat after outdrive was installed. I just zoomed in the image on my iPhone.

Boat is back from the shop. New gimbal ring installed and all fixed. I can't recommend this shop enough, Boaties in Shawnee Oklahoma. They have done me right from the start and I will continue to take my business to them. Now to finish the interior and get ready for some fishing.
