Decided to add power tilt/trim - just need a new trim cap which was ordered today.

My captains chair/livewell/deadwell/drink cooler came in today!

Got the dashboards pretty much done, just need to scuff the port side treadplate. I figured I would keep the original glove compartment hatch to keep some of the original charm.

What do you guys think of the dash panels? Looking at them in the pics I am not as impressed...

Personally I think they will reflect sun light and make for a not so pleasant experience,.....

You asked so...a bit "Cheese-ie" for my tastes. On your rubrail, pull out about a foot of it and then set it in the sun or heat gun it for about four feet and then "Pull Stretch it" it wil give you more than enough.

Dash panels could use a "make over", since you already have one brushed... brush the other too and then paint. I'm thinking metallic purple with glow in the dark yellow flames or something! Nah, just kiddin. I think and accent color of paint would do wonders on them though, I do like the raised checkerboard look.

Since you asked, I don't like them.

I replaced mine with 1/4" Starboard and I'm pretty happy with them. I meant to order 1/2" and accidentally got 1/4" (I wondered why it was so cheap :p) but it actually worked out real well as I used plywood for a backer and the Starboard for the faces.

I find these BoatMates accessories for be handier than a glovebox.

Great! Thank you for the suggestion

Metallic purple with yellow flames... that will make the wife wonder.. haha.

Thanks for your honest opinions though - I do need to do something different. I agree that the glove box really doesn't serve much function, especially since mine is on an angle - all of the stuff vibrates and ends up in a pile at the bottom back of the box. Still a good place to put a wallet and other things that shouldn't get wet in a dry bag inside.

Re: 1985 Sea Nymph 175 Fish & Ski Rebuild - Tons of pics!

I got the splashwell storage compartments back together last night - had to run out to get more rivets and more paint so that threw my progress off course a little bit. One thing i can say, though, is that those compartments fought me the hardest out of anything I have done on this rebuild so far! For whatever reason I really had to struggle with them to get them where they are supposed to be! All in all they ended up going in correctly, and they look pretty good. I doubled up on rivets on the side plates since it looks to be something that ties the whole splashwell into the decking and therefor stringers. It now is very SOLID.

I forgot to take progress pics (shame on me) last night, but i did get the first coat of Zinc Chromate on the bare metal spots - and I will be ready to slap a few coats of primer and paint tonight. I will also put a bead of 5200 around the storage compartments to keep any washdown water out from underneath.

After this is done, tomorrow night, I will be ready to spray the bedliner in. The forecast looks good enough on saturday to pull her out and let it cure the rest of the way in the sun. This will give me a chance to clean out my work area- and maybe even prep for painting the exterior. Any tips on creating a custom "paint booth" ?

More progress last night - albeit limited.

Got the inside of the splashwell painted, and a final coat on the sides of the gunwales. My a fastener on my gun came loose while I was spraying the sides, and it caught me off gaurd. I ended up with a run. not happy. I will probably end up sanding and touching it up when I paint the outside of the splashwell when the motor comes off, unless someone has a better idea.

The rest of the paint came out good, I had a bunch of spits and sputters under the splashwell, just because of how awkward it was to paint with the gun upside down and at weird angles at times. Not ever going to be under there anyway, so no big deal.

You going for the battleship look with all that gray Carp? Gonna have an accent color somewhere?

Work looks real good and you're making good progress.

Yeah, the floor and top of the gunwales are going to be very light gray, with black accents on consoles. Also, the seats - including the bow cushions are going to be white, so i'm going for the white, black, gray look. I have some questions I need to post on the exterior color, but I first need to get my thoughts together with some pictures.

It does look a little funky now since there is a lot of overspray everywhere.

I did end up painting the dash boards with a plasticized, elastomeric, UV-stabilized, matte finish, black coating and I like that look a lot better than the original. Thanks for the tip, Jign.

Bedliner went in today, and the motor came off! Too tired to take pics to post - that will be tomorrow.

Overall it looks pretty darn good, and I am very excited to get her wired up and get the consoles in.

As promised, some pics of the 80% cured "bedliner":

Prep for this took 3-4 days, including taping, 3m 5600ing around the edges, sanding - scraping, etc.

Doing a good job on the prep & taping off areas that need to be protected is critical. There are areas around the edges that I could have done a better job "smoothing out" the 5600 - and it kind of shows. Im not dissatisfied, just something I would have spend more time on.

The texture is AMAZING. It is completely non-skid, but also is not too rough at all on the feet. The rubber flexes with your foot movement, so it doesn't scrape at all. There won't be a need to put carpet down to tame this at all. I used rubber "dust", instead of the more aggressive "crumb".

I did get the consoles in, I will post more pics of this later.

Also, for those wondering... I am going to add carpet back to the interior of the glove compartment.

Got the consoles 100% riveted down. They are very solid.

Ended up picking up paint for the exterior of the boat, its going to end up being a very dark lightly metallic gray tone. Peeled the side decal stripe off... anyone have any hints on what to use on the adhesive?

I hope to get the outside of the boat sanded (scuffed), primed, and painted this week so that it can harden for a week or so then i'll be able to splash!

Before then, here is the list of other things to do:

- Get new control cables
- Install steering cable and helm
- Paint and install controls bracket and trolling motor outlet
- Paint and install trolling motor bracket
- Paint exterior of boat
- Install Seating
- Install dash panels
- Install windshield
- Paint/install gunwale boards in back for mounting downriggers to
- Create and install wire harness for non engine related electrical
- Install power TnT on Motor
- Install motor back on boat
- Move axel forward on trailer - Any idea what the tongue weight for this should be?
- link/sync motor
- troubleshoot ignition issue

GoofOff or GoopBGone type stuff will help ya with the adhesive removal.:)

I'm interested to see how that seam between the hull and deck holds up for ya.

I'll try to GoofOff, thanks for the tip, J.

The actual gap in the seam was pretty small, but I tried to "feather" the caulk out onto the sides, and thats where it became a sticky mess in a couple spots. Still protected, just an aesthetic thing. I am very very happy with the way it turned out overall, I am also interested to see what it looks like after a season of fishing.
