Re: 1987 Lund Tyee 5.3 Rebuilt
Well I took the winter off but recently got the boat to where it was sea worthy. Took it to the marine dealer to give both motors a tune up, which resulted in a $326 bill because I put the throttle cables on wrong  Oh well, lesson learned.
When I left off the vinyl I installed on the sides of the boat looked like hell because the liquid nails I used (never use liquid nails for vinyl!) bled through. So I picked up a can of vinyl spray paint and I have to admit, it looks pretty awesome!
My dad said the last time he drove it the top speed was about 36 mph. Took it out last weekend and I hit 40 mph...I suppose carrying around 500 pounds of wet foam will slow you down a bit!
I still have to clean up some wiring, paint the rest of the vinyl and install rod holders. The Lowrance 332c is waiting on a power cord, gps puck, and transducer before installation. The box got the old x85 and seems to do the trick.
As far as the casting deck goes I have changed my approach. I am going to make it completely modular - meaning be able to quickly remove the seats and storage box. I will accomplish this by vertically mounting Bert's Custom Tackle Tracks to the gunwales, storage box, and cross-member and have the seats and storage box slide into place. At least that's how it plays out in my head.
