I think once I am all done I am going to post a thread on the forum with everything I have 3D printed for my boat. So far I have printed my little laser alignment and a new mount for my Bennett trim tab pump. I printed the pump mount because the original was broken and a replacement was between 9 and 15 bucks depending on who was selling it. I took a few measurements and got on my computer and had a new one drawn up and printed in like 3 hours. I have a few ideas of other things I would like to print as well like custom emblems and tags for the buttons on the dash.

The end of the laser pointer housing is threaded so that a 5/16 all thread can screwed into it, then you insert it into the engine coupling as you would the alignment tool, then unscrew and pull the all thread out leaving the laser. I of course ensured alignment was good using the alignment tool.

*edit* never mind - I missed the 2nd post with the pictures of the 3D printed part. Super cool and creative/modern way of aligning the engine and drive.

Well I havent been able to post much, I have been very busy with work and this project.

I got the engine in, wired, started and tuned. I found after getting it running that the harmonic balancer had a nasty wobble. I shut it down, removed the balancer and put a dial indicator on the crank shaft and found it was bent. I was not very happy. Lucky for me ATK engines is going to send out a new long block under warranty, unlucky for me it is on back order and I don't know when I will receive it.

I have started working on my interior, I am doing 2 colors on the interior. White and Carbon fiber black, I got my cabin walls in and wrapped. Instead of doing a folding door as it was originally i made a sliding pocket door. I used kitchen drawer no slam rails for my sliding mechanism and lexan that I tinted. I used patio door hardware and am very happy with how it turned out. Next is to get the inside of the cabin carpeted.

Made some good progress on the cuddy yesterday. I finished gluing down the carpet on the walls and roof. I used Polymat speaker box carpet since it is lite weight and easy to work with. Last time i did this i used marine carpet like what it had originally but it was heavy and a pain and the glue didn't hold it very well. This stuff holds really well with spray adhesive.

I was going to carpet the forward wall as well but then realized I had some left over vinyl plank flooring from my bathroom project over the winter and thought it would really look good in there. So I rough cut some ply wood as a backer board and applied the planking to it using a little PL on each and some small nails. I really like the way it came out. I have to trim it out still to hide the edged and give it a cleaner look. It was difficult to cut and get it to contour the cabin nice and tight but nothing in a 30+yr boat it straight or chimerical lol. Once I trim it out and add the last few pieces I will put the hatch and port holes back on and the cabin will be complete minus the cushions.

Well last night I was able to finish up my fo wood work. I am really happy with how it came on. My back is not happy with me after hours of being crunched up in the cuddy. I am going to try and get the hatch and port holes in tonight and a few other details and then i can move on to cutting the wood for my cushions.

Well got some more done the past few days. Got the kick boards done and wrapped. Using headliner material under the vinyl to give it some cushion, the same was done with the cuddy walls. Cost effective and gives the end result I wanted.

Started getting the side walls done too. Using EVA fo-teak. It's sticky back but the install instruction recommend a spray adhesive as well. Since the came in rolls I unrolled them and let them sit sandwiched between 2 sheets of play. Manufacture recommend 24 hours but I gave it 2 days and with this heat we have had hear in NW Ohio of 90s that past few days that got good and flat.

I also used some rubber exercise matt from Manards for my little shelves. These have always been carpet but I want rubber to help reduce sliding of things sitting in there like cell phones and something that won't stain so easy when a beer or pop spills. Used spay adhesive on that as well.

A closer shot of the EVA. I'll be using this for the floor too, but it want be permanently attached. I am going to put it on a rubber matt as well so it is removable when I go fishing or we take the dogs out since EVA is prone to damage.

Well after speaking to ATK engines Tuesday they told me my warranty replacement engine was still back ordered and a few weeks out. Then Thursday got called to schedule delivery for today 😁. So it's on the stand. Hopefully no issues with this one. Unlike the first one it didn't show up on a broken pallet. So that's a good sign. My goal is to get all the manifolds and stuff transfered over and have it in the boat to start Monday.

Warentee replacement was the one that ran for me to LOL.
Did you have an issue with ATK too? I ordered mine through Jegs and figured with such big companies involved it would be a solid purchase. I'm convinced that the first one took a nasty fall in shipping or got hit with a fork lift causing the damage considering the create was damaged pretty good.

No mine was a Michigan Motorz engine. It ate 2 rings immediately on startup. They were very good replacing it.

Yeah I have used Michigan motors in other projects. I probably should of gone with them again since they are only a couple hours from me.

Got the drive on this evening, hooked up my last few hoses and wires and she started right up. Went right into time no problems and man does she sound great. Ready to rip up the Maumee river!

More forward movement. Got my pin stripe done and that is definitely a task I don't ever want to do again. Such a pain trying to make nice clean lines on a surface that has multiple curves in it. The stripes are hot pink per my wife and daughters request to have punk on the boat. It is vinyl and has a UV rating that says it should not fade for 5 years. I think I am going to put a couple coats of clear coat over them to help protect the and prevent pealing. The large one is 1/4 inch and the thin one is 1/8 inch.PXL_20210609_233559484.jpg

Looks good! I just started pinstripe removal on my boat today. Undecided if I'll put them back on. Love the hot-pink...I'd say it's a period-correct color!
