I,m thinking it would be ok . As long as the first hole you drilled is smaller than the head of the carriage bolts. In my mind there is not a lot of force pulling up on the bunks . More lateral force . But then again I have never been the sharpest tool in the shed either ..

Maybe I will just use lags from underside. Checked on ''hole eraser'' this morning and all looks well.IMG_20130814_070715.jpgIMG_20130814_070352.jpg

Bottom paint looks awesome! I think you fix on the lag bolts will work a-ok.

Keep at it!

Ok lokonn here is a pic of the live well where it currently is, not sure I am going to keep it in this spot or not? I have some thinking to do on how I want everything but won't get to that stage until I finish tear out and get rid of the motor on the back of it. I don't want to gum up your post with a bunch of pics of my boat so if you want to see anything else I can send them via PM (Oh the live well is on the left in the pic...or starboard side of boat, the other hatch is a cooler)

Over drlling the bolt holes was un-intended but it sure worked out wonderful. The lag bolts bit really well and tightened up really well. So bunk boards on, bunk glides installed, fender sides and trailer steps carpeted, lights 99% rigged, new winch installed. IMG_20130817_194734.jpgIMG_20130817_194558.jpgIMG_20130817_194930.jpg Started removing old decals and sanding down starboard side of boat while waiting for contact cement to tack up. Having the boat back on the trailer, with no intention of taking off until water is involved is a good feeling. Been trying to make sure that whatever we are working on gets completed before getting on to something else. Really wanting to get back into the boat resto and finished up with trailer part. After today's odds and ends on trailer we should be able to move ahead. Brother in law stopped by yesterday. First time he has seen boat. He was asking about boat and then says ''where did you get the new trailer?'' I told him not new just re-built. ''You did all this? Looks really good.'' Makes it all worthwhile when somebody says something like that, motivation to keep going. Hope everyones projects and weekend is going well.IMG_20130817_194950.jpg

Well we got the last 1%finished today. All wiring is complete and secured in wire loom. Boat and trailer moved out of driveway, garage almost cleaned up for SWMBO car to come back inside. Should have garage ready by end of day tomorrow. Good weekend.

Congrats on trailer completion... That's a big milestone! Compliments from your bro-in-law were well-deserved.

This weekend had us working on the boat for a change. Saturday involved a bunch of running around. Was able to get one transom eye sealed and bolted up and then it was off to auditions for Joe at CYSO. Was able to stop at Cabellas and Harbor Freight on way home. Scored a nice adjustible butt seat shaft for $60 and an air riveter for around $70. That riveter is my new best friend. I've used the manual ones before and this air operated one is sweet. We got the stringers installed and added a bunch of tie-ins for the sides.IMG_20130825_162333.jpgIMG_20130825_191720.jpgIMG_20130825_191725.jpg As you can see we also test fit the new(used) fuel tank. Not much room for error but it fits well. Taking to work tomorrow to steam clean and pressure test. Will also get some tabs welded on to secure to stringers. The last pieces of wood were in the bow and we pulled them out. Will be able to use originals as templates for new. Couple of coats of epoxy and then better than new.IMG_20130825_163942.jpg Hope everyone had a good weekend.

So the plan for the week is to get floor cut and epoxied. Don't have any templates to go off as floor was toast so gonna be some measuring and template making then cutting. Thinking that while expoxy is drying we can be cutting foam for flotation. Have vinyl samples coming in mail, hopefully today or tomorrow on those. Question for those that have used vinyl. Pros and cons of using the expensive adhesive that is for the product vs. contact cement? Having a hard time with the $80 per gallon price tag but don't want to induce problems either. Thanks.

Re: 1987 Bluefin Sportsman 1900 - The Fun Begins

Guys looking for some guidance here. Was planning on using 3/4'' Arrucoa ply. I need 5 sheets. 1/2" is $10.00 a sheet cheaper and 26lbs lighter. The $50 bucks cheaper would be great but the weight thing is making me think about this. Max width for my boat is approx 72" so every sheet will be cut some. I didn't measure what was in from factory. I am worried about flex, hence the additional side to side strapping that we are installing, but don't want a "lead sled" either. What do you think?

I used 3/4 in my decking, but my boat is a little smaller than yours. It feels plenty beefy to me.

Well compromise didn't work out. Ordered online and went to pick up and was way surprised at what I had ordered. Long story short got it rectified but ended up having to go with 3/4". All is well better to be over built as opposed to under built.

Got plywood rough cut for deck last night. The template thing worked pretty well and it went faster than I thought. Will make final adjustments tonite or tomorrow and then the epoxy party begins. Should have gas tank back tonite or tomorrow. Need that for final cut out of deck. Vinyl showed up yesterday, was surprised by that ordered it regular shipping Weds morning showed up around noon on Thurs. Thank you Speedey Delivery. As soon as epoxying begins will also begin installing foam board. Being paranoid but I think I am gonna do one more leak test after floor is finalized and being epoxied.

So you are going with vinyl instead of carpet? What vinyl did you go with? Looking forward to pics when you get laying floor
