Big day in our household. Both boys, Mike and Joe passed the driving test and got their licenses. No small feat with the lake effect snow and the instructor telling them from the get go...any skidding or fishtailing is automatic fail. Not sure who is happier them or the admiral. She has done almost all of the running around for school, band, friends whatever. Congrats boys proud of you! Fellow iboaters your prayers would be appreciated!:scared::scared::scared::scared:

Congrats to them both and prayers are done, been many, many years since we went through that.

I don't always paint boat consoles...but when I do I use flake. Stay sparkly my friends.

Bahahahahaha!

Gotta love it when your kids are in school and you find out what they were actually doing during the day!
Nice job though Joe!

Those consoles turned out fantastic...

Next lesson for the boys: How to back a boat trailer at the ramp!

Over the weekend got to spend a little time on boat consoles. Joe and I were able to put together a video on the fabric application. It ended up being a little lengthy but it should give anybody that wants to know a idea of what we are doing.

Amazing! Did you use the same mix as when you coated the floor ply?

Good to see you back. No, we used expoy resin on the floors and the consoles were fiberglass resin. Would think you could use the epoxy if you wanted, but not sure. The fiberglass resin cures way faster, and everything I saw on youtube was with fiberglass and since this was first time out for me, I didn't want to add another variable.

Just subscribed...and made it through all the info. Very informative! I have a 1989 sportsman 1900 with 125 on the back...lots of rivet leaks. Tryin. To convince myself to rip it apart. Very much appreciate all your detail!

Thasme glad to have you along. If I can be of any help let me know. Sound like with the leaking rivets, your going to have to pull the floor. From there it is a blank canvas and you can go any direction you want. Is your 125 a Force also? If so welcome to the double orphan club.

Yep it's a force... Runs pretty dang good though. Pushes me right along around 40. Had to replace the lower unit due to broken skeg and crack. I bought an empty lower unit for 15 dollars :) and swapped gears. Also new starter. I'll start a thread myself and get the link on here with pics. I'll have some questions for ya when I start the thread. I work in North Dakota 14 on 7 off so won't be till around the 7th I get to pictures. 12.5 hr days I don't feel like doin much after work with especially with a 3 yr old and 1 yr old. Again totally into the depth of info you posted!

Will be looking forward to your thread. I have not had mine in water yet...I only hope she'll move along at the kind of numbers your talking about. Looking forward to spring for sure.

So why does everyone use foam sheets instead of liquid foam on rebuild?

The answers Jas and Jb gave were a big part of my decision. Availability, and the potential to be able to get at inside the hull if need be at later date were also in the mix for me.

Welcome Jas, nice to have you along.
