That's pretty cool . Where did you get the fleece and is that poly resin ? Are there any more layers of cloth going on ?

Thanks guys. I got the fleece at the fabric store, they had a sale on fleece when I went, think it was $3.99/yd instead of $8.99. I got just short of 3 yds. I don't know why fleece is used. Whether it is the combination of stretch and weight, or whether the first guy that did it had it laying around so thats what he used. If I get a chance to do something like it again I might experiment with a heavy type of t-shirt material. Everything I seen was one layer of the fleece with the poly resin applied. Then some would go straight to body filler, others did some type of fiberglass cloth or csm. I am leary of how just body filler would hold up for what I'm doing so I am applying fiberglass and then the filler to get it looking as smoothe as I can. The starboard console really feels solid so I think it is gonna work out. Thanks again for watching. Will keep you updated as things progress.

It's Fleece & Poly, and you can get it @ most Wal-Marts that sell fabric. Cheap Stuff usually under $4 bucks a yard. Fairly strong stuff and stretch's and conforms to about any shape. Lot's of Car guys use this technique to make speaker enclosures. Works really well. I don't think this is lokonn's first Rodeo!!!

Been plugging along, not a whole lot of time at any one time. Stealing time from work or home to try to get something done. Was able to get the consoles in primer. More minor defects than I had expected to still work out, but overall I'm happy.

Now to apply some surfacing putty, sand, layout glovebox and storage hatches on back. Then we can fit in boat, line up windshield, the paint. I now know why they get so much money for these. Still glad I went the way I did though.

Okay, I'll be the first I think I drooled in my key board, very nice job. I have been trying to figure out how to upgrade the dash on my Holiday and that process would work perfectly , if I wasn't allergic to fiberglass.

Thanks Guys! I don't know how you glass guys do it. I had all kinds of ideas to make with fiberglass....but these console have pretty much cured me of that. Never say never but the itching was enough to bring my enthusiasm level down a few notches. Thanks again. If putting glass consoles on my tin boat gets the tin guys going, I'm sure the paint that I'm planning on is gonna get me run out of town.:eyebrows:

I don't always paint boat consoles...but when I do I use flake. Stay sparkly my friends.

Big day in our household. Both boys, Mike and Joe passed the driving test and got their licenses. No small feat with the lake effect snow and the instructor telling them from the get go...any skidding or fishtailing is automatic fail. Not sure who is happier them or the admiral. She has done almost all of the running around for school, band, friends whatever. Congrats boys proud of you! Fellow iboaters your prayers would be appreciated!:scared::scared::scared::scared:
