Thanks everyone! I've been working on so many little things at once lately but it's all coming together and I'm counting the days until I take my first test run and it 8 days remaining! Saturday April 27th is the plan if weather permits otherwise the 28th for sure. :)

Built the upper back cover using the old one as a template.

Had to deal with this disgusting thing eventually.

Took off the old caulking with this wood tool, worked good.

Also made a huge dump run with all the old parts

Rolled gel coat into the ski locker

Old grease before I repacked the bearings.

Here is a shot with the new black decals on. I bought some cheap $20 plastic wheel covers for now to cover the rusty steels.

OK and last today was the ski locker door. I wanted to make one from some hardwood. This is how I did it.

Started with four pieces

cut the tongue and grooves off

Rounded over the edges then flipped it upside down and clamped it to the old cut out.

Used PL construction adhesive and fastened 1/2" maple boards

Trimmed it using the template and voila! May need some trimming to fit but dont want to risk any PL getting on the carpet so I'll let it set before I test fit it.

Yes, seemed to match the carpet the best. It was either that, tigerwood or maple. I still need to sand and finish it but I just did some trimming to see how it fit and....

Re: 1986 Campion bowrider restoration

Thanks guys! Yes it is close. 5 days and counting:D!! I need to glass the two rear covers and carpet/vinyl them, repair all wood trim and install, secure the seats and side panels, install transducer and speedo, pull the drive and check alignment once more and check cam dwell and timing.
It's close!

Re: 1986 Campion bowrider restoration

ok forget about Saturday. This Friday will be the first test. 3 days to go! Lots to do. I bought some beige marine vinyl and 1/2" foam today for the rear upper panel. I'm going to carpet the top of the doghouse. Yesterday I lowered my drive stand to help removing and installing the drive. Why it didn't do this earlier... I have know idea. Was so easy to remove it now. Checking alignment, lubing the splines and u-joints one last time since I ran it on the muffs. Wood trim was sanded, stained and now being varnished. Will sand the rear gel coat on outer transom and install speedo's and transducer. Should be good to go Friday

Drive stand = unbolting drive and it slides right out. Easy one man job now!

Re: 1986 Campion bowrider restoration

Old wood trim, looks like P.O. tried to finish some of it or something??

Sanded all down to bare wood

Used oil based stained and soaked for 15 minutes

Wiped off excess

Scrap wood with double sided tape to hold pieces in place (after stain dried for 24 hours)

Close up of stain only

Foam brush makes applying varnish on small pieces easy.

First coat done!

Re: 1986 Campion bowrider restoration

Well I put in 18 hours in the last 26! I glassed the engine cover and upper backrest/cover. Used 1/2" foam and new vinyl for the upper cover and carpeted the upper doghouse. Installed all the wood trim and rear seat/backrests. Completely exhausted but still had energy to test the boat EXCEPT there is some kind of rogue wind storm going on here this afternoon/evening. Might have to wait until Sunday morning because even tomorrow the wind forecast is not good. I envisioned my first test run to be on calm water so I'll wait. I will make a video as soon as I get on the water!

Not even sure how but I used over 500 staples on this? Foam, then vinyl and backside carpeted!

This took some work to adhere carpet because of it being tapered but it turned out great.

So happy with this area

Hinges work great
