Rocka, is she an 18 footer? If so that 70 is probably your minimum power rating which means you're right, she'll plane but she won't be a speed demon. Has the boat got its capacity plate in place (sorry if I missed this)? If so it should give you minimum, recommended and maximum power ratings. That 115 E-Tec would be a great option (wish we could get them here for that price!!!).

I'll check it again this weekend, the coast guard rating is 7 people or 1,000 pounds if i remember correctly. With 150hp maximum.

I'm not sure on the length, I think it must be a 190? I know its a 1984 by the hull number, can I tell the length or the model from it also?

It's a 19'. It's a pretty substantial hull with a deep V so it will be a turd with only a 70. However, my buddy has a 21' Chieftain with only a 90 on it and it goes "ok" so you'll probably be ok.

I'm thinking I may need to get a prop with a different pitch depending on how it works out, the prop that's on it has seen better days to begin with.

I'm having issues finding adjustable pedestals at a cheep price somewhere locally, going to stop at Cabella's tonight and see what they have. Going to splash it this weekend for a test run seats or not seats either way :)

Yeah you will probably need to reprop. When we first took out my buddy's Chieftain we were only hitting like 4800 RPM at WOT. We got a new prop with lower pitch and were able to hit 5000 and the hole shot really improved.

Rocka, a 14 x 13" pitch would be a good starting point providing the 'rude's in good running order.

Their made by Moeller, here is where I bought mine, cheapest price I could find.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MTI1LE/ref=oss_product

I bought the pedestals at Cabella's in person last night, spent more then what i wanted to, but their nicer then what i was looking at online. I'll get some pics up this weekend.

Splash Guard & Seat Box's

Another weekend of maybe next weekend :D

Made a replacement splash guard out of the scrap from the marine dug fur from the transom. Put some gun-stock stain on it, and a couple coats of west system, came out really nice.

Sanded down and stained/epoxied the trim pieces that hold it in place also.

Attached the seats to the pedestals measured and determined they would need 6inch boxes, which is also a good height to stand on and see over the front windshield if needed. Built two boxes and painted with fiberglass resign.

Still need to permanently attach the sidewalls, install boxes, carpet boxes, install seats, and finish carpet in the cabin.

Splash

Seat bases and chairs are in, launched it for a test drive Saturday, was worried for a bit when it was taking on water due to the drain plug not seating properly.

Got the correct plug to seal up right and its nice and water tight now. Still needs carpet in the cabin, and a dozen other things. Cleaned up the Bimini top, washed the windows, looks pretty sharp on the water.

Does about 24mph down hill with the wind, but it cruises nice and handles the wake well.

That is just one cool boat! Glad the splash went well!

I saw an old Islander in much worse shape sitting outside of a shop in a small town here in Iowa a few weeks back. 6 foot tall weeds around it! It was either an I/O or didn't have a motor on it but it was awefully difficult not to stop and poke around to see who owned it and if it was for sale or not... Would make a great 'Sippi River boat.

Yea this one was parked in the middle of 6ft weeds when I first saw it, and it had 2ft weeds growing inside, along with a ton of moss and mold.

Its come a long way since then.

Anyone have some recommendations on a good way to add a adjustable front ballast?

A huge cooler full of ice, food, and drinks that fits in the bow or in the stern.

BTW that Islander looks great, very nice work:D
