It was pretty quick if I remember is was only a few working days and they called me back.

I chose the 3M 80 because it says for vinyl.

Thanks WM, I will wait till the end of the week. If nothing then I will reach out to them early next week. Figure the Holidays is probably putting them behind a little.

As for the 3M, I am leaning toward the 80/90 after thinking about it some more, a lot easier to get then 3M 98. Will probably go with the 80 in the end anyways.

My only recommendation is to NOT do contact cement for vinyl to aluminum adhesion. I have had some peeling issues and am having to go back with spray adhesive. I should have listened to Watermann from the beginning!

Thanks MB, will be using the spray. Did you use the 3M 80 as well or a different variant?

On another note, stated drawing up the design for my splashwell. Trying to see if I forgot anything.

Plan view of Splashwell.pdf For reference the box 18 x 32.25 is the splashwell. The holes that will be to the right and left of it are for Tempress hatches for bait livewells. The extensions passed the splashwell are for dual seating with a hinged lid so I can have some small storage underneath. Also, the space between the seats allows a 28 inch cooler to fit for food/fish depending on the trip.

I think I was using the 3m 90 to go back where I had peeling issues, but I only did a few small spots before putting the boat away for the winter. I'd stick with the 80 since Watermann has had such good luck with it.

Here is my first draw up for the under flooring tank. Going to send this off to Moeller, better explanation of what I am looking for vs what I initially requested. Hopefully ya'll can read my chicken scratch

Placed order for Nautolex marine vinyl last night. That will be next step before riveting gunnels back on. Sample picture of what I ordered below.

Is that the Gray Shark?

Yes, although the Nautolex sample card I ordered to choose from has it labeled as Shark. Really like the fact I was able to get samples beforehand to pick and choose. Some of the photos that you find on the internet are really misleading and appear completely different then the final product.

I got a note from Moeller today:

Morning,

Forgive me for the late reply, I have been out of the office due to bronchitis. We currently are no longer offering custom aluminum tanks so I have attached our current list of fuel tanks we manufacture.

I guess I wont be going that route. Talking with my welder today to see what he can do for me.

That is too bad about the tank. Your welder may be able to do the job at a better price.. Could be a blessing..:lock1:

Thanks guys,

Hoping so as well. Trouble I am running into is the Fuel sender. I have only found one that can support a 3 inch tank. I thought about getting a float arm from Moeller and adapting the float arm to shorten it/bend it, but can't find where anyone has done it before.

Any thoughts on modifying the arm/bending it to fit in a 3 inch tank?

Yeah the throw on the arm could be adjusted but shallow tanks level reading is inherently inaccurate.

I wonder if the tube type would be more accurate. I read they are more stable since they have the level in the tube and equalize with the tank. Doesn't bounce around nearly as much with the sloshing fuel. I would just have to do some testing to figure out what 2/5/8/Full tank would read on the gauge.

So here is a question for ya'll:

What should I secure the transom with: Rivets or Bolts? I can get rivets that are 1/4 x 1 3/4, but don't know if bolts would be the better option.

What are ya'lls thoughts?

I don't know where you're securing the transom to need the 1-3/4" if you're going through the transom wood and knee brace you'll need at least 2" SS machine bolts and nylocs.
