Thanks GW, that sounds like a plan.

We had to lay a piece of 1x2 along the bottom on the edge for the bearing on the router to ride on and to prevent flex, but it worked like a charm. Pictures tonight. It was too dark for pics by the time gwpjr installed it last night.

I'll just put this here ... :)

Running off portable tank for now. I'll put gas in the 125 gallon tank when the price dips below $2 in a week or two. ($2.18 right now, and that's with NYS's enormous taxes)

Wow, theres a lot of extra space in that engine bay with a single v8...plenty of room around the sides for standing, batteries, a generator if needed...........even a small family of Refugees..:D

Youre really cranking along GW....well, the pics kinda show JR doing most of the work

Coming along great..

Got a bunch of little parts ordered that'll be arriving over the next couple of days -- relays and sockets, 12-circuit fuse panel, buss bars, hose connector for the ourdrive (old one got eaten by the elements) and a new blower. gwpjr picked up 5 spools of wire and an armload of waterproof crimp connectors/lugs/spades. Going to be a lot of wiring going on.

Need to go shopping for new navigation lights after I get paid and refill the Boat Fund a bit. Can't go shopping online for parts every day like this indefinitely :)

Holy Moly! You've come a long way with this project Senior!!!

Excellent craftsmanship and everything looks beautiful!

Junior has really put in some hard work while the old fart has futzed around in the peanut gallery. ;) :thumb:

When y'all get the boat done I'm going to come up there and let you take me Striper fishing so I can slime up everything real good for you.:)

When I started this project, the price of gas meant that it would cost about $625 to fill the tank. Predictions are that it may soon be less than $250. It's very close to that now - $278 at today's price. Heck, I might splurge and put 5 gallons in it this weekend and see if it registers on the gas gauge at all. :)

A lot of wiring and carpentry this weekend. Mounted the fuse panel, blower, bilge pump, float switch and ran wiring from bilge to panel. Doing some tin knocking to refit the vent boots from oval to round to make clamping of the blower hose easier. The original plastic dryer hose was riveted on.

Fabricated a cabinet front for the space between the outer head wall and gangway and below the upper deck. This sits in front of the electrical panel and relays, and covers the back of the radio. It has a single cabinet door with a spring catch to keep it closed.

No pictures this weekend as it was yucky and raining and I didn't want to carry the phone in that mess. We broke all time records (for the date) on both days this weekend. Total of about 4" here. Good news is, all the scuppers and drains work just fine. A sufficiently heavy rain exceeds the capacity of the gutter under the engine hatch however, so a little spilled into the bilge.

A few catch-up pics:

Dash. Lonely without lots of switches and lights :)

Ran the 4 AWG feeds from the batteries and added the main breaker inline before the fuse panel:

Mounted the first 6 switches:

Right to left: Bilge blower, bilge pump manual on (note orange LED below that lights when either the float or manual switch is on), nav lights, all-around/anchor light, courtesy/passageway lights. There will be labels applied below each switch. The tip of the bat on these switches lights white anytime the all-around light is lit, and each one glows red when that switch is on.

Mounted the side navigation lights. 2.4W LED 1 NM Attwoods. They look nice lit.

Also got the bellows for drive and exhaust today. Got both mounted on transom, ready for the outdrive.

Waiting for the high-pressure hydraulic tubing from iBoats for my trim tabs. Pump is mounted in the bilge and wired. Need to run the harness for the switches up to the helm and mount the switches.

And ... the outdrive is back on

And we ran it on muffs just to say we did, and exhaust came out the right places for the first time in at least three years, maybe longer depending on whether you believe the PO when he says he used the boat last.

Waiting on delivery of a $1.53 part (the little nut that goes on the end of the shift cable to attach to the linkage), named, oddly enough, the "cube". I'm sure I'll find the original one a year from now when I finally clean up all the stored parts and pieces.

Power tilt works like a champ after gwpjr opened the motor and found a broken connection. The PO never had working tilt, and had to jump in the water at the ramp and ratchet-strap the thing up before trailering. Not me :joyous:

Fingers crossed, this beast might take a swim next weekend!

Great progress there gwpsr, its looking good. Those cheap little parts are always the ones you lose and never find till it is too late. On the bright side I have a feeling you may have a collection of spare parts when you are said and done with this build.

I have a lifetime supply of used stainless screws, bolts, washers and nuts :) We reuse where possible, but I seem to always need one 1/4" longer, or don't want to rummage through a bucket each time I am doing something. If only they were precious metal and could be melted down.

I do need to try to sell the old engine block and heads, water pump, alternator and other accessories at some point to fertilize the money tree. Oh, and take a hundred pounds of old aluminum rubrail to the metal yard.

Awesome GW.

But the gas here is really expensive. $6,25 per gallon. Jealous at your prices on the other side of the ocean.

OMG. I wouldn't be able to afford the gas it would take to get to the pump to get more gas! Time to fit oar locks on your boat!
