Did you get all the bubbles rolled out of the glass on your transom? If not they will allow water to penetrate into the wood eventually.

The bubbles that I had I sanded down and added more fiberglass till I was happy with the spot. Plus I resined the whole transom to seal it before I fiberglassed it. Last night I put all the bolts in from the outside of the skin. I used 5200 to seal the bolts

I just ordered the aluminum transom drain tubes. Can any one give me advise on how to install them?

Drill the holes using a Drill guide or a Home Made Bridge like this... Made from a 2x6

Seal the holes with Epoxy or 3M 5200. Insert the tube from the outside then either purchase or make your own flaring tool like this...to finish the installation from the inside.

I spent two hours today cleaning up my garage. Maybe tomorrow I will get the engine hoist from work to put the motor back on.

Re: 1981 18ft starcraft supersport

I need to get two cotter pins for my control box. I'm not sure what size I need. Can anyone tell me what size I need?? These pins are for holding the control cables in place.

That's a pretty small cotter pin.....

Got an Ace or Tractor supply close to Erie? If I needed a small cotter pin, I'd check there before HD or Lowes...

Here's the cotter key and part number - MERCURY / QUICKSILVER, 18-29623, PIN-COTTER Boatstore.com

For almost 7 bucks a pair plus shipping Ace, True Value or a Big Box store would be my choice. It isn't a marine specialty item.

You're lucky - the wiring looks to be on good shape. Mine was junk.

Keep up the good work. :joyous:
