Is that 2X8 or 2X10 pressure treated? W/ Galvanized bolts?

During the rehab, if it's well seasoned & well dried, encapsulate it w/ couple coats of epoxy & a coat or 2 of paint. Then reinstall it w/ stainless bolts. If it's not well dried, replace it w/ non-PT wood.

What kind of wood did you use? Other than unscrewing the gunwale screws underneath and bracket bolts, what else did you have to remove to get the transom wood out? How bad was your old wood or how did you determine it needed replaced?
How difficult was the wood to get out from between the aluminum? What did you use to bind the two pieces of wood? How is your dash. Mine got soft long ago ('74 model) while I still have my original transit wood. You could use some of the wood you have left over to replace your dash wood. I used teak, it was expensive and hard to work with but looks great. Instead of seats I use marine coolers and push them up under the dash when stopped for more fishing room.

As you can see the guy who had this boat before me loved JB Weld. There is many mounds of jb weld on the back of the transom. Would it be safe to sand these down so you can't see it?

I used pressure treated 3/4" wood. Just need to unscrew and screws or rivets you see. My old transom was nothing but wood chips at the top corners. I first used wood glue but the wood was too wet to stick. I will be using PL Premium construction adhesive. The wood would not come out till my buddy went in the boat and pried the bottom bracket back. He then pushed the transom wood right up to me with ease. Baldtire send ,e some picks of your boat!

After I sand it do you not think the weld will just be able to be pushed in or fall out? Can I sand down the weld to the metal?
