I think if you could make them fit the last CL set with the slight curve to em would look good. Thinking about it did make me look back at the original pics and holy carp did those consoles sit far back from the factory.

Well those are certainly a good way to spend some (all plus a bit more maybe) of the scratch you'll save using that 'free' Extreme steering setup:)

No problem @ the windshields, I figured that the choices are going to be kind of limited given the somewhat condensed build schedule. No time to shop for a killer donor boat, let alone field strip for goodies & dispose of:facepalm:

Hey Jason, I see why you are having trouble deciding on the winshield issue, been doing some sympathy browsing for ya, and boy there are a lot of real nice ones out there like you want, but man for the price, a person could get four or five bottom feeder SC projects.

No doubt!! So non bottom feeder:rolleyes:

It's all good though. I think I am getting pretty comfortable with these ones:

But you guys gotta tell me, Clear or that Green 2111:confused:

Is the green dorky or cool?

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Yah Dave, my Old Town was the first actual boat I bought with my own $$ and could call my own. I'm looking forward to future adventures in that canoe:D

Actually, I was laminating two 3/4" pieces of Arauco together just as you posted that ^^^. Excellent timing:D I'll post up the photos when I get a chance.

JB, thanks for thinking of me buddy:) I have a couple of tri hulls near by that I could probably buy, scrap, swipe the windshield, sell the trailer, make money on. Do I really want another glasser on the property:rolleyes:

I am coming to the conclusion that my sweet curved windshields might be out of reach. It's all good. So I'm leaning towards a pair of these...

I think they'd work well on this boat. I might go with clear or maybe this Green 2111 they offer on their site...

Might be kinda cool:cool:

Another option,.....Just in case you don't have enough on your mind already,....lol

Yah, yur right. Well, I'm pretty sure that this will be BLACK:)

(White bottom hull and gunwales, grey interior)

Though, Jen asked yesterday about the boat color, told her I was thinking black, she says...

"But that just won't match my blue striped beach towels Ja!" (she has yet to buy these towels)

Me...

"Yah, but remember, the Islander will be blue?""

Her...

"Well sure but we need this little boat to match the big one!" "We really need to color coordinate here Ja!:D"

OK, first couple steps for the transom.

Got the two halves of Arauco 3/4" ready, all slathered up with TightBond III...

Flopped over...

Screw in the two corners (later to be chopped off) to keep the two halves from sliding apart...

Threw some weight on...

Good squeeze out...

Cured and the taper cut...
P1080711.jpg

Next up I'll need to prep the hull to receive the transom and dry fit for the drains, bolts and other cuts.

This transom is way bigger than my little Jet Star one;) Course it has to hold back 40 extra horse too:cool:

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

OK, bow side bulkheads.

So I am really enjoying building with foam, dorky I know. But check it out. I laminated a 1/2" piece of Arauco to a 2" slab of pink foam, using PL, 3 coats of epoxy on the wood. Here's the side facing the stern...
P1080712.jpg

This is the inside (bow side). You'll notice these two "fins" here. They serve a few functions. Certainly give rigidity. These will also work as the inside of my hatches. Also, you'll see that they extent beyond the foam. They actually laminate to the front side of the deck. (This prolly makes no sense right now)
P1080713.jpg

PL schmeered all over the place...
P1080714.jpg

And installed...
P1080715.jpg

You'll notice that I left just a little gap there at the deck/bulkhead. I did that on purpose. I'll come back later and run a nice smooth bead of 5200. I did the same thing in the Islander, only with PL, and it bubbled up all over the place! I had to grind it down and made a huge mess. 5200 smoothed out with Mineral Spirits will be much better than PL in that seam.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

All right, on to the second bulkhead. This one goes in between the fuel tank and fish box creating two hatches on each side of the tank. Same principal...
P1080717.jpg

P1080718.jpg

Just a little tension and weight to hold it in place...
P1080719.jpg

And here is how I left it to cure this morning...
P1080720.jpg

When I got home from work I took the clamps off, and gave em a yank. Wow, STRONG! I have more structure going in there but man, just the way they sit, BEEFY! Real happy with that!:D

Nice work there, looks to be pretty solid from here.:)

I like the green windshield, def a unique feature to have on the rig.

Nice work... You are moving right along! I like the bulkheads with the foam cores - pretty crafty thinking.

Vacation is next month! Keep your foot on the gas.
