Sorry Dalton, I mis-spoke. Should have said panhead bolt. You know, flat where it meets the shank and rounded on the top like the rivits in your boat. Mine were phillips head.

And don't let E get to you:D I had over 30 leaks in my Mariner:p

Now let's re-visit that it won't be long to splashdown remark..........

Same set up as this...

Starcraft sold the technology to VW which was a real bummer:mad:

Thats only because RickAirMed didnt do one..
He had those stringers screwed THROUGH the hull..Which I think whomever owned this boat before did when working on this deck..

I know was just wondering about them holes cause they are the exact same distance apart and the same distance from the top and from the rear of the boat but looks like JB weld will be repairing them...

Re: 1979 Starcraft Holiday16 closed bow

There is no telling what happened there. The PO probably had something mounted in there and took it out and didnt plug the holes up???? I looked at a little row boat once that a guy had mounted all sorts of stuff on the back with 2 inch black drywall scews through the aluminum, leaving the business ends of the screws pointing into the boat. People do crazy things.

For those mystery holes I would just coat up a rivet good with some 5200 and call it good.

I'll leave that knee brace to the experts, havent messed with one of them.

The bottom of that bracket was attached with bucked rivets and the upper part was set with "truss" style aluminum (original) or stainless machine screws through the transom. When you reattach it be sure it is strong.

Those holes look like they are right at the curve of the chine. However you fix them keep it smooth.

You are asking the right questions and are getting good advice. Keep up the good work.

Nah, you'd be looking for marine grade or exterior grade. PT is asking for trouble!

Re: 1979 Starcraft Holiday16 closed bow

When I build the transom can I use home depot 3/4 plywood glue it together and use fiberglass to make it sealed??

I know glass resists water. Will that work?

or do I need to do anything else?

oh and where can I find this stuff called Gluvit. so I can get it ordered.
