Re: 1978 Sea Nymph SS160 resto
The Rustoleum Topside Paint is an Oil Based Alkyd Paint. Almost the exact same formulation as All the mfgs of Oil Based Alkyd Paints. They ALL say not for water immersion. What they mean by that is "Constant" water immersion. If you trailer your boat and don't leave it in the water for more than 2-3 days at a time and wash it and maintain it on a regular basis it will hold up very well. I would have recommended you use the hardener with it, but it should still not blister and peel as long as the surface prep and primer was done properly. As with any paint job it's ALL about the prep. I have spoken with the Rustoleum Techs in Length about their Topside Paints and their Professional lines of paint and while they will not, in writing, admit that all this is factual, they have made statements to me that it is. The "Proof is in the Puddin" and the members here on the forum, Including me, that have used the products in this manner with excellent results KNOW that these alkyd paints hold up well on trailered boats. Enjoy your boat. She will need some touch ups but they are easy to do.:joyous:
