OR... you can make this the "hull extension 2" thread, cut the back off of that thing and add on another 12" or so.

Just a thought!

See that is exactly why I come on these threads with such problems. Otherwise I would have never seen that great solution...…I mean...…great idea...…or great suggestion...…okay...tidbit of information.

Now why didn’t I think of that? :noidea:

I guess I didn't have on my thinking cap.

guess I could mount the OB on the Starboard side of the transom and that would solve it as well. :faint:

WOW, the ideas are coming to me now.

Well if I soon don't finish this boat, fish will be going extinct, and then there will be no reason to finish it.

Okay with all the fantastic ideas and suggestions I've received, and some of them were amazing to read too, I finally have a perfect solution for this issue now. Seem the company has already shipped me a 12' cable setup. Now folks, that is customer service and support if I've ever heard of it. I actually called the company after emailing them the problem, and the guy that answered the phone told me that not to worry as soon as he got my email, he immediately scheduled a shipment for a12 foot setup to me. He say once I get the new one, ship the old one back to him and was sorry for the problem. You can't ask them to do any better in my opinion. :thumb:

That is good service! Still, an extra foot in boat length couldn't be all that bad...

nurseman, I thought about extending the boat, But I just put that new transom in and would hate to cut it out for the extension. Of course I could have just cut the transom off like AFlowers did, but I am not that sure I could re-laminate it back on properly. And the I would have to weld an extra foot on to the trailer also. So a new cable seems the better way to go. :noidea:

But nurseman, it really was a great suggestion...really.

Glad to hear they got right on shipping one out for you.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the obvious solution was to move your steering seat forward.

TDF, I did think about that as well. But the seat was already tabbed into place and I didn't want to cut it loose. I also thought about cutting the hull in half and adding a foot in between. But then the trailer issue came into play and I stopped. I even thought about cutting the steering cable itself and removing the correct amount and then welding it back together. But I think that would void the warrantee. :noidea: I guess I could have ask the company guy while I was on the phone with him.

kcassells, Well the fish may still be there, but I may need fishing lessons to be able to catch them, it's been so long now.

I also received the Glass Bubbles, Surfacing Wax and Pigment Color yesterday. so I do have things to do now. :thumb:

I am surprised that not one Expert didn't mention the best idea going. And that would to mount the steering control another foot forward and make an extension handle to come back to me to drive it. And I thought you guys were boating experts...Sheeezzzz.

Okay I have to admit, I now have in my shop, Micro Ballons, Fumed Silica (Cab-O-Sil), and Glass Bubbles. And if they weren't in marked containers, I am not sure I could tell any of them apart. Odd isn't it? :noidea:

Well the simplest solution would of course have been to just tie a knot in it ....
Aren't the micro balloons red ? Or am I thinking of something else ...

Well maybe some Micro Balloons are. But the ones I have are pure white exactly like the Glass Bubbles and the Cab-O-Sil. And all three have the same consistence as well, being powder! So I seriously have to keep everything in their own marked containers until I need to use them, or there is going to be a huge mess.

Hmmmm....micro ballons....at my age I would say to my wife.. Anne, where's your magnifying glass. I can't read this. The ballons might look like ballons under a glass? I dunno.

Sam I actually did tie the cable in a knot. But it takes such a huge circular arch that now it is too small.

I have a question for all those that have done this before. When you brush on Gel Coat, what type brush do you use? Do you use the typical chip brushes that you use when fiberglassing, or do you use better brushes? :noidea:

I am going to try to mix up some of the liquid pigment i received, and see what the polyester resin looks like. And so it isn't true Gel Coat per say, but so close it really isn't much difference in my thinking. I want to coat the rod boxes, front storage area, the under seat storage and such with it. Just wondering. Any ideas?
