My compressor is a 15 gallon Dewalt stand up. 5.4 gpm, and 200 psi max. It relatively nice, couple years old. Should do the job I would think.

That preval is an interesting concept. I'm sure it works well for small jobs (like this one). 18' holiday looks interesting ( for $900), but I'm just not ready for another boat quite yet.

After 2 days of wire wheeling and sanding, I was able to get the trailer primed for paint (which is tomorrow). I ended up using a Rustoleum product for the primer that is a dark red (rust) color. I hope the white I'm putting on it tomorrow won't take 10 coats to cover. I also got to work in the shade most of the afternoon.

And yes, the trailer has the worlds longest tongue, the PO must have extended it about 6 feet.

I just got done building the bunks, here are a couple pics. I wanted to round the edges, but I got carried away today....

Primer on the trailer and carpet on the bunks...Looking Good!:thumb:
A tip on using less white paint to cover the red primer...spray on light, quick dustings over the entire trailer a couple of times...the white paint will go on a little drier, which will help with the build characteristics of the color and help to cover the red more quickly...
This is one instance where the directions that say to "spray several light coats" really pay off...

Looking good! Well done, and looks like you kept the overspray off the fence (& the neighbors house)....

I was pulling for an accidental white stripe on the dog :watermelon:

Looks good, 850. Much better color than the primer coat.

Hmmm. I white stripe for the dog might be nice.

Agreed, that rusto primer color reminds me too much of the color I'm trying to get rid of. The can says I have to wait 24 hours to re-coat, I guess I'm done for the day.

Re: 1976 Starcraft Supersport 16'

I've been watching this thread for a while, as i am hoping to get a '76 supersport 16 myself. Great job! I have learned a lot and gotten some good ideas. I am looking for a used trailer so I can get the boat out of the current owners' yard. What is is the maximum distance between the bunks for the supersport 16?

Thanks so much and again great job!

I just measured, it looks like 36" to 38" Max would work fine. Mine are more like 32" apart. Get that boat and get working, these things really are a lot of fun.

Re: 1976 Starcraft Supersport 16'

I went ahead and put a second coat on the trailer today, as we are expecting rain for the next two days. No pics, but it looks the same. I'm very excited to start putting this back together.

Short list (for the trailer)

New wiring harness/lights re install
Rollers are coming FedEx today
Side and bottom bunks installation
New winch strap, and safety chains installed
Oh, and put the tires and jack back on it.

Plenty to do before the weekend, have to get the boat out of the garage soon.
