I just watched the unload and was thinking "Hey, what's the big deal?". Then at 7:35 - Nice recovery and remarkable restraint keeping your cool. :)

getting back up to speed here. nice work so far. i used to have a car on four of those dollies with two 4" solid cinder blocks on top of each and then a 4x6" beam, so i could roll it around during painting while still keeping it high enough to work.

kiddies, this here is a PARABLE for the noobs. if someone who's the Arch Tinhead and has restored this many of em (and thus knows exactly what to look for when buying one) gets surprised by these little "issues" with the boat, you should expect any old boat you buy to have LOTS more issues than you see at first.

Keeping my cool was the hardest part:facepalm:

Good to see you back, I knew this boat was going to have some issues, but our selection up here is not like you guys have down there in the U.S.A. and this one was pretty close to home as far as my road trips are concerned.

Had to order some more Mercruiser parts nothing major, some gaskets, Dizzy cap, shift arm etc. Package weight about 2lbs. The supplier shipped from the U.S.A. UPS $28. okay not too bad the price we pay to live up here. When the Brown truck arrived yesterday he says COD for brokerage to bring it to Canada $78.31 So to bring $130.00 worth of parts to Canada from a supplier that ships free in the States cost me almost double.:faint2::mad:

Ouch, bummer. Surely, that fee can't be weight based, right? $78+ extra seems pretty steep for 2lbs of stuff in 1 smallish box.....

VS gas & time to drive down & pick it up somewhere, I guess the $78 might not be so bad, but still :cold:

Ah, you said forget it right? Yah, that's no good, I'd have em just keep the gear and get a refund.

I'm sure the added charges are import duties based on list price. But over 50% is rough!

There are no duties on U.S. parts since free trade, from China yes. This was all a money grab by UPS. I should have done a Jason suggested and refused the package but then the project is at a stop.

Is this a normal charge UPS adds for US to CA shipments? What a crock of you know what! I hope you paid the uplift in pennies if you still have some laying around. :D

Seems that way... same thing for me as well on the other side of the same country.... big bucks to bring it in across the border.

Only too well.

Well after spending two hours building those nice dollies to set the hull on, and climbing in to start the interior demo and the old girl trying to turn on her side with me inside. I went back to tires, two at the stern and one under the bow no more moving around. I got the 18 gal bow tank pulled out, it was full to the top with premium gas so that will keep the 6 liter GMC going for a while. While this boat sat in B.C. it was home for a family of squirrel's and a few rats. The demo will continue this weekend, other than tomorrow afternoon for the Home team Grey Cup game.

Progress. Demo almost done, really bad mouse problems.

This is a pic of the fuel fill hose duck taped and electrical tape to seal the leaks.
