Huron yeah the one photo is a dual battery switch only has the cables for one battery though that part of the wiring is actually necessary anyway:) Much of the rest of it is just senseless to be honest P.O. must have been running disco lights and a generator or something idk;)Maybe some of the switches turn the lights on in his house  Teamster that is actually a good idea any thoughts or pics of how that might be done would be helpful I had just planned on welding her back together but would definitely make sense to be able to get it in the garage again:facepalm:

Got out in the garage today and started a bit of demolition started tearing the extraneous crap off the port gunwale (had taken a few things off already ) aside from to many screws that were too long and too rusty was pretty straight forward.

P.O. Had plenty of rusty sheet metal to use for backing under down rigger mounts

100_0116.jpg

Bow rail was a bit stubborn some of the set screw wouldn't come loose but a little persuasion and it came apart:rolleyes:

Why are all these screws soooo long?? When I put it back together I'm using at least 4" long hardware to make it even harder for the next guy:)

Found an extra light under the bow kind of hard to lay down and read under there though

100_0148.jpg

Missing a red lens horn worked though

100_0149.jpg

A quick brushing and a little help from the shop vac and port gunwale is ready for prime and paint ( Insert grumbles and curses here ;))

Repeat for starboard side

100_0157.jpg

Realized most of the second floor wasn't fastened down so decided to eliminate it

Don't try this at home boys and girls as believe it or not the snow and ice tends to add a bit of weight

No wonder this stuff wouldn't melt it even defies the laws of gravity :)

100_0168.jpg

Starting to feel like I'm getting somewhere

100_0169.jpg

Note to self " Step stools and ceiling fans do not mix" I have a headache

100_0170.jpg

Mini live well ? Hoping that foam wasn't poured in through this hole seems loose and popcornish so probably just the original white stuff.

100_0171.jpg

This doesn't seem right to me floor is cut out around supports on both sides close to bow seems it should be higher and fit side of boat better  Possibly someone replaced it before??

100_0173.jpg

Found a screwdriver

100_0175.jpg

Aft part of upper floor required a little more force

100_0176.jpg

100_0177.jpg

But in the end I prevailed!! This piece was really heavy and in retrospect I should have called in reinforcements

100_0182.jpg

At least I finally made a little progress

100_0198.jpg

Swept up the worst of the mess. Hoping floor dries out now.

100_0145.jpg

I figured out why this boat is such a mess, It came from the wrong part of Michigan pic is hard to read but says Lansing , MI you down state guys should stop sending your problems to the U.P. ;) Anyway time for dinner might get back out there later though..

If those deck panels are still mostly intact......make sure you keep em for templates for the new deck if you're not changing the layout too much.

Re: 1975 Starcraft Mariner 18'

I have to work midnights tonight so figured I would get started early and see if I could make a little progress before time to eat shower and grab a nap. Is it just me or does anyone else have trouble with pics getting out of order when uploaded to photo bucket ?? Mine seem to end up last first and middle to first from the top strange...

100_0204.jpg

Got out in the garage around nineish decided to start by removing a bunch of snaps all the way around boat from a boat cover.Took about half an hour to find the right drill bit only about 10 minutes to remove them all.

100_0205.jpg

Hole looks a lot bigger than it is.

100_0206.jpg

Figured I would make you guys happy and remove at least some of the gunwale trim. A little drilling and a quick tap with the dead blow and off comes the corner (different size rivets here so of course more time hunting for a bit)

100_0207.jpg

A little ugliness under the corner and transom does seem slightly mushy but no real surprise there..Can't remember from all the other threads but is plywood transom stock or ???

100_0213.jpg

My method of rivet collar removal clamp in vise and reverse drill wallah:D

100_0214.jpg

Port side inside gunwale trim is history

100_0215.jpg

100_0216.jpg

Then the bow

100_0217.jpg

100_0219.jpg

Had to remove mfg tag with starboard trim noticed it says rated for 130 horse and am sure I heard 115 somewhere... Doesn't matter I guess as I'll probably stick with the 65 for now.

100_0225.jpg

Starboard corner came apart same as port.

100_0226.jpg

Just as ugly underneath only thing notable is gunwale extends a little longer on this side for some reason ?

100_0228.jpg

Hit em quick with a wire brush and shop vac again not looking too bad.

Time to start on what I really planned on doing today now that I pleased the masses:) Removing bow platform.

100_0234.jpg

There's a rivet up there somewhere

100_0236.jpg

Found it !!

100_0239.jpg

A little forceful negotiation

100_0240.jpg

And presto its a convertible.
