It's funny to see that green grass in those photos you last posted. I am betting it doesn't look like that at the moment up there in da UP, eh!

Re: 1975 Starcraft Mariner 18'

Yeah its still a little white out but really haven't had much here in town only a few inches left in the boat at the moment started tearing some of the miscellaneous crap off the gunnels the other day took some pics but still haven't taken the time to figure out how to post them again. Hooked up the battery ( this involved vice grips of course as cable ends are broken) and she actually spun over :) Electric tilt seemed to work as well altho only moved an inch or so. I also figured out what previous owner had done to shift linkage to run it manually thought I was missing a part but he had disconnected it and ran it out the front under the cowl since the cable was broke so good news there as well. Got it to shift in and out of gear as well so motor may be ok. I was also able to get alot of good info from the guys in the Johnson motors forum and will order a repair manual soon . I can't seem to decide if I want to tear her down completely now or wait for some open water to see if the motor will run and shift first since I know I will be pulling it off to flip for paint and probably transom replacement as well although seems quite solid. Most likely the former as ice on the bay is still pretty thick :)

Just came across your thread. Another Michigan guy? :D Seems like there are alot of us around here from Michigan. Nice looking boat! I just about did the same thing to my trailer, but thankfully my 16' just fit into my garage.

The wiring photo looks like maybe a 1-2-both battery switch?

The black wires on the left grounded directly to the hull?

Looks like a quick teardown and you will be on your way, good luck with the rig:)
