Thanks Jason. It was an interesting project and can't wait to hear it played. I had to google dulcimer when she asked me to build it.

Good news! I found a great home for the Starchief only 45 minutes away. He is already scanning the resto threads here and might even become a member. We had the PT talk and now knows about 5200 so he's on his way. Kind of bitter sweet to see it hauled off even though I know it's in good hands. I got my asking price and another gentleman was even willing to give me more to jump ahead in line so to speak but this guy came first and met the criteria.

Good luck Mark in Sanford!

Sweet work man...boat related or otherwise. Need this weather to stay warm permanently so we can get going on these boats already.

Thanks sprintst. I wanted to post that project to mainly show that I had a good reason to take time off the mini chief.

Making progress on the bifold cuddy doors. Dry fit in the boat and stained the frame last night to match the helm. This am put on coat #1 of spar varnish. I picked up a large door mat and the wifey cut it to fit in the cuddy storage compartments and in the below deck locker. Pics on the way.

Re: 1974 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB refit

Great weather for boat work lately and there has been some progress. Bifild doors are done, splash well is painted and lots of window trim is cleaned up. I've decided to paint the aluminum trim with rusto metalic finish. It looks like polished aluminum. I just wont live long enough to get these all polished and look uniform even with a die grinder, skotchbrite and Mothers polish.

The door frames are cedar, stained and 2 coats Spar varnish. The inserts are 3/16 smoked polycarbonate. The whole thing is pretty light weight.

I want to tint the side windows and haven't decided weather to apply a film or spray paint it with the rusto window tint paint. Does anyone have any experience with that rusto paint?

Thanks EZ I'm pleased with them too. I'm waiting to install them till I get further along. With the traffic through the boat about to pick up I'd hate to ding them up. I need to get the seat boxes done first.

Thanks guys. It's not easy to hold off throwing those in. My wife is working on making new pads for the cuddy and is looking high and low for a deal on foam. Looks like a king size mattress topper is the ticket for under $100.

I just realized that I'm about to hit 1000 posts. Time flies.
