How is the feel of the sand texture on the floor. Thinking of going with that as well to save some money on carpet/vinyl. Is it ok for bare feet?

I think it is. I had my daughter climb around in the boat tonight barefoot to see what she thought of it and she said it felt fine. It is of course dry right now so I can't say how well it will help as far as slippery but it seems like it will do well. I hope it holds up. Time will tell.
