Seriously, its actually not that bad... looks strong enough to hold that tiller... Like the little trolling kicker as well....

Could you at least throw a couple of coats of rattle can on the outside of that thing? You are going to have to strip the paint next winter anyway, so what's a superficial coat of spray paint going to hurt?

Hope you catch some fish.... I hereby christen her - Walleye Slime

So Sorry to disappoint, but hackin on ya is not what I had in mind...instead, I know that since you have done it the right way before, and the amount of time and energy you dedicate to everything you put your huge brain to...This quicky transom job is just what the doctor ordered after being raped by the Incredibly Ridiculous Stupids...and it is well known that this craft will be used for very righteous purposes of making sure certain young folk enjoy Birthdays and just plain 'ol family fun days, until such time that the weather gets below freezing and you commence to make it all good...so there...deal with it...

Yah guys, I'll take the good with the bad. I was looking at the rig all set up, man this thing is UGLY! Seriously UGLY! It's all good though. I'm hoping to get a sea trial in tomorrow maybe. If she floats and runs, I'll take her just the way she is;):)

Hey, here's a quick video of the Johnson on the run...

The fish won't mind the ugly, besides fish guts wash off ugly much better, & you tend to not mind as much when it doesn't.

Just so you know: Ugly is the new hotness, ask Gus, this year's UK winner:

Best of luck swinging a sea trial tomorrow! And an early congrats on a pending successful splash. Well deserved.

I see some late spring fishing trips w/ the boys in preparation of the big B-Day Islander outing!

Man, sorry, I meant his name really is Gus. Made the news here. He's a survivor, and well, you know, U--G--L--Y....

I know, I know...but I do, I do resemble him...:D...especially before my first cup in the A.M....

Now if you remove that transom and wrap it in1708 then a good gel coat. Heck just gel the whole boat. All kidding aside it dont look to bad and I dont think you would rig up something unsafe so use it until you build it.

Can you please put some porch paint on that transom? Looks real solid though for sure. That thing's going to fly with the 25. Did I see you go from fwd directly to rev in that video  yeah don't do that.

Hey, thanks guys:) She'll get the job done and I sure won't mind getting dirt/slim/guts all over it;)

A couple of you mentioned throwing some paint on that transom. Crossed my mind for a half second. I decided not to because, well, this boat is "camouflage" (of sorts), really bad too. So to have it look nicer, ya, no need for that.

I sure don't need to preserve the wood either. My guess is that I'll have it out from under the boat cover a half dozen times over the summer, then on to rebuild. So, yah, no need there.

It'll work;)

Holy cow, I haven't been over here for a while and never even noticed this thread, I think you have MBS just as bad as I do Jason. Great job on the trailer and frankentransom. After two or three trailer rebuild they get done pretty quick eh.

Nope, pretty sure I don't:p Shoot buddy, you run more boats through the Starcraft hanger than my local dealership!!!

frankentransom, HA! You have it pegged there Glen!

Yah, trailers are a drag. I like getting those done first, kinda like take your medicine sort of a thing. Last night I spent about 45 minutes chasing down a bad ground on the lights:rolleyes: Got it eventually, the new LED's look sweet back there.:)

It might be the angle of the pic, But it looks like the motor sits a bit low????

Where is the cavitation plate in relation to the transom???

Looks like a solid temporary transom, Never thought I would say those words together!!!,........

I am looking forward to throwing that transom away in about 6-7 months, that means I'm in rebuild mode;)
