Ok, today I decided to give the stuck piston another go after soaking all this time. Its finally came out intact. The hole is in good overall shape with no real scrapes or gouges, the piston is a little scored but the rings werent broken or anything. When I get some time, im gonna take some careful measurements of the bores for tapering, clean and check the pistons, then soak the block and parts in the parts washer to clean it all up. Thanks to AllDodge, I have some spare parts for the hole that was stuck ;)

Now I can start the cleanup and reassembly after I measure the crank and see if the lower main bearing is serviceable.

I seen a guy heat up the rings on a pistol like that with a map gas torch and remove the stuck rings. He even cleaned up the groves and reused it all and it ran well. Crazy stuff, but what he was working on was rare with no parts in sight. Amazing what some folks are capable of.

Yeah, if everything is within spec, it should run. The issue for me is, stock size rings are available, but I can only find sets at $70 per piston, .10, .20. .30 and up are available for $25.

If I start down the rebuild road, with machining an all, it will cost alot more than this old motor is worth. So Im gonna try and reuse anything i can that measures out ok, and just see what happens, if it blows up, I got it for free anyway.

Now that the Center Console is pretty much done, and the big SR is off to the marina, I guess its time to move this one along. Now that the stringer grid is all done, I plan to finish glassing everything in, and prep it for paint.

I got a line on a 69 Donzi sweet 16 that needs finishing for a price too good to pass up, so im going to buy it Sunday...

lol, I wasnt looking for another, but I always wanted one, and for next to nothing in price, I cant pass it.

It has the outdrive setup, steering, but no engine, no engine hatch cover, no grabrail or seats. Does have a clean title supposedly. I wont start on it till the CM is done tho.

Today I rolled the CM back in the storage room, where ill lift the cap again, but now set it on saw horses so i can remove the hardware and fill and fair for paint. Then Ill roll the hull back into the shop to finish tabbing in the sun pad base, seat supports, and battery area in the bow. Then i can flip it using the rafters in the shop, and prep for paint.

I had to spend some time juggling things around. I pulled the little sea ray out of the shop and blocked it, and used the trailer to pick up the donzi. The v was too deep to fit the trailer setup, but I got it home anyway. Gotta build a rolling cradle for it, and tuck it away for a while.

Moved the CM up and de-capped it again to finish the glassing.
