Re: 1968 Starcraft Jupiter - Rebuild

Been a lot of hard work, but it looks great and it is all worth it. Hopefully you are not like me and get bored with it now. I just did a makeover on my Bayliner and it looks and runs great, but I know me, and soon it will be just another boat, and probably get sold. As luck would have it though, I do have a distraction...a 50 something Duracraft 14 ft runabout I'm going to start on soon. I plan on taking my time with it since I have the Bayliner to play in the water with when I get the inkling.

Best looking Jupiter on here. With that motor, you'll see 45MPH easy.

Fabulous looking boat IM; especially like the woodwork and the rear jump seat. Pardon me if I copy a couple of your ideas. I know your going to enjoy this weekend. Can't wait to see the "on the water pics."

Outstanding!! :D Far more than a resto. A beautiful custom boat. I would be heading to a nearby ramp right now. I couldn't stand waiting for two more days. I must commend your will power.

IM - Great looking boat, Fantastic work.

Can't wait to see that hull shining on the water.

At WOT the only thing in the water might be the prop.

IM: Those '"I'm done & ready for splash" pix should be the cornerstone of the 'Rehab a Starcraft' brochure:D:cool:

Great looking!

Haven't even got JII wet and you're planning the next. Shame on you. :D Leave the GPS at home and It will feel like you're hitting at least a 100. I know on my splash I hit a little less than 250 mph seat of the pants. Hope some Jup owners chime in.

My Jupiter only went about 34 but I had a crank-rated 85 with no tilt/trim that was probably mounted too low. I think your newer 90 will wipe the floor with my old setup.

Wow - that thing is going to jump out of the water with that motor....obviously glad to see the trend of not painting the huill gaining strength - get prepared for alot of compliments.

Obviously I am biased - and I know the open bows have more utility - but you can't beat the classic lines of the 50's and 60's closed bows.

Re: 1968 Starcraft Jupiter - Rebuild

Murphy struck really hard this morning guys....

My wife's grandmother suffered a massive stroke in the middle of the night and has internal bleeding in her brain and currently in a comma on life support! It's not looking too good right now. Unreal... As a result, camping has been cancelled so we and most importantly my wife can be there with her.

Soooooooooooooo..... I am going to bring the boat and all being well splash her... but just lowsy circumstances! Man o man... it has been an interesting month!

Anyway... she lived a full and wonderful life ---- fit and strong right into her 90's --- gave up x-country skiing racing in her mid 80's as she was to busy with other things!!! First woman truck driver in Finland!!! (her 1st husband passed away... and she took over the business --- and you wouldn't know it given her petite size!!!). Fun, fiesty, classy lady right up until the end --- if this is the end for her! I hope she pulls out --- but the doctors have given a pretty grim diagnosis.

Anyways.... there will be a splash in the next couple of days!!!! Gotta do it!!! I know she would be totally upset if it didn't happen ---- especially on the lake she loved so much!!

Live every day to the fullest guys!!

Have a great day!

Jim

Safe travels & good thoughts you & your wife's family. Take a good pix & memory of her grandmother w/ you on the splash!

That's all we can hope for, a good, rich & full life:)
