Ordered a new anchor, line, bumpers, and parts to put together a swim platform yesterday. I'm going to need more boat dollars. The accessories really start adding up quick.

Getting some work done on the doghouse and the teak swim step. I'm planning on having a stainless grab bar above the step to hang on to but I ordered the 24" wide one by accident and that will not look right.

Boy, I sure wish this paint shortage would end soon. I would like to paint and finish my project sometime this year.

Its been a while since my last post so I figured it was a good time for an update. After getting the boat on the water upon completing of the last rebuild I started having more engine issues. This time it was an excessive amount of blow-bye that was sending a good amount of oil right back into the carb and onto the cylinders. I did a leak down test and found out I had some leakage around several valves and guides. I was told by the machine shop originally that the head looked good and didn't require any work at the time, So I pulled the head and took to a local shop that specializes in them. Literally the only piece left on the entire boat that I haven't restored or fixed in some way so I guess I should not have been surprised. oh well.

Anyways, I got the head back within 2 weeks and was back on the water. I can now, somewhat confidently, report that all mechanicals are in tip top working order. I have put roughly 15 hours on her and she is running absolutely fantastic. So Happy...

I'll add some pictures of some of the recent progress below.

Man I have to say, I am surprised every time I get this ole girl out how much attention it gets. People really love these old tin boats.

I Installed 2 flag/rod holders (15 degree) on the back and 4 (90 degree) rod holders for fishing. They and a standardized size that can accommodate other accessories as well.

Finally finished the rear hatch, I used some 3M adhesive backed neoprene that I had to work as a seal. This is also the first time working with rivet nuts and they are pretty neat. will definitely be using them on other projects.

The shell of the doghouse is finished. I'm thinking about having a someone skin it for me with gray vinyl like the sides or I might do carpet that matches the floor, haven't decided yet. I have a plan to cut in a access hatch on the doghouse that way it can be securely fastened in place but I would still have easy access to check or adjust carb settings etc. This idea is still up in the air though.

Thank you, That access panel has came in very handy several times already, I am really happy with it.
I've been brainstorming different ideas for my deck as an access point for the cables and lines running from the center console to the stern. Not quite as accessible under the deck as they are when they're ran under the gunnels or behind the side panels.

I reinforced the rear starboard area by the swim platform, its solid at a rock now so I don't have to worry about my heavy foot denting it while climbing in and out of the water. actually did this a couple weeks ago but never took any pictures.

Tonight I wrapped up the fabrication of the center dash. This was a lot harder than it looks. It took me 4.5 hours to figure out the curves and bends to get this all together. I think it will make for a nice touch when finished.

One more post for the day and I can enjoy my night checking out what everyone else is up to. I tried to take a pic from the same angle as one from the first day I owned the boat. Man its been a journey.
