Man I finally finished reading thru your complete resto! It’s absolutely amazing. Great job bud.
Thanks Sheetmetal. Its been a journey but a fun one for the most part. This group has been a great help. There is a vast wealth of knowledge here and being surrounded by a community that appreciates these old boats provides a lot of motivation to continue progress. There is something special with these tin boats.Man I finally finished reading thru your complete resto! It’s absolutely amazing. Great job bud.
Yikes!I order new wheels for the trailer. yesterday they were delivered, so I installed them as soon as I got home because I was taking my boy fishing. 5 miles down the expressway and BOOM!!!
I was forced to leave the boat on the side of the road while we went home to grab the old tires and a jack. It was rush hour and it took over an hour to get home and back. That was one of the most stressful hours of my life. Having something you have worked so hard for, sit in such a vulnerable spot. Everything was fine when we made it back but I will never leave without a spare again. I gained some grey hair from that mistake.
nope, must have just been defective. I guess its possible that a piece of trash or something flew up there from the road but I couldn't find anything. I have never had a tire sidewall blow out like that beforeYikes!
Glad that noone was hurt and the rig made it back to dry dock in 1 piece!
Was the new tire rubbing on something?
We were. But we did get skunked which doesn't happen very often. Oh well, like I told my boy, there is no such thing as a bad day out fishing.Ohhh man that’s crummy. We’re ya able to go fishing in end?
Its not bad, old garage was bigger but was hard to keep warm. the brick on this one really helps a lot. I think a good layer of insulation on the ceiling will allow me to maintain a good temp without wasting too much energy. Just need enough time to get the paint cured.Nice workspace, should make winter go by a little faster working inside.
Yuengling makes the job much easier too!Strip down mode. Just finished pulling the windshield back off. It was quite the job, the Butyl tape I used is difficult to remove. I need to find a better seal before installing again. Currently removing the remaining hardware and marking holes that need to be filled. The weather is still pretty good here in KY so I am taking full advantage of that.
Definitely doesn't hurtYuengling makes the job much easier too!
