Everything old is new again, I suppose. It seems like for the longest time it was all about having a console that you could launch a space shuttle from, but it looks like more folks are getting back to basics using tillers and the like. Plus, you can do virtually everything via tiller nowadays including start/stop, shifting gears, trim, etc.....pretty slick. I even see all kinds of fancy, $100+, carbon fiber tiller extensions these days that lots of the flats guides use while sitting on their poling platforms. Although, I like my $2 PVC version better
All that being said, I keep toying with the idea of adding a console of some sort to my boat, but I should probably quit while I'm ahead. Less is more and all that jazz.
