What motor are you hanging on that stand? If memory serves (50%-50% shot, at best) it's for a short shaft motor (15"+/- transom)

Your Nassau looks like it has a long shaft transom (20"+/-) correct?

May need to fine tune stand to fit a long shaft motor.....

Print the plans & scale the height the existing plan shows for the clamp height.

Just adjust the length of the 2 vertical legs 5 1/2" taller, pull them a little closer to the front, I think the existing print shows the legs being 16" from the front.

You also need to make the diagonal support legs need to be made a little longer.

I don't have the tools at home to print & scale the plan. I often flip a 4X8 sheet of drywall or plywood over & mockup full-size dimensions when I have to make adjustments to printed plans... 1/2 scale would work good too & not require nearly as much area for a mockup.

The legs in your plan show to be 31" long (Part "D") I believe that should be more than adequate to hang a long shaft motor on. I think you can build the stand to the dimensions given and be just fine.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I used the same plan & my long shaft 1971 650 Merc skeg hit the ground & didn't fully engage the stand at the clamp. And the skeg was worn down a bit, making it even shorter then it was supposed to be....

But it's not in the garage at home, so I can't go check....

Here's my logic, If a 20" transom takes a long shaft motor from the mount to the top of the cav plate then you should have at least 10 more inches of space + the height of the casters prolly 3-4" soooo using that logic it should be plenty.;)

I agree ^^^ But it just didn't. Don't know why. Perhaps I can't read a tape measure? Can't check tonight....

Just read through your thread. Looks like your off to a good start. Nice rolling motor stand and boat stands. It looks like you have a great boat to start with, looks like everything is there.

On the steering I went with the rotary system with the wheel and i love it. My only issue with it was fitting it behind the dash was a squeeze. I found the rack and pinion systems after, not sure how they would work exactly though. Something to think about.

I feel your pain with polishing the aluminum, takes a lot more than you would think.

get some Mothers Mag and aluminum polish from WalMart. You'll be amazed how easy it is. rub on it till it turns black then wash off with hot soapy water. It will shine like chrome!!! $3 bucks
