Dude, I was away for awhile and I missed a ton of your work. That boat looks awesome, you should take orders on line and sell them.
Hey Lake - call your local rental outfit. You might be able to rent an engine hoist for less than buying something you'll only use once. And the hoist is worry free, too. Just a thought.
You will want the proper battery cable from BRP. It has the proper ends for your engine. The part # I quoted is from a 2003 Fifty two stroke. Its like 6 feet long I mounted my battery on the port side to help offset my weight in the boat.

Glad I can help it is nice to see these old boats staying in service.
As a side note (to avoid reading the whole tread for a third time), we you able to salvage and rebend your old transom cap to fit the new shape (raised transom) or did you buy something new for it? If you bent it flat, how did you do it? If you bought something new, what did you get and where? Thanks!!
i've been reading on your thread about your transom extension! it looks great! i've been wanting to do something similiar to my 1962 orlando clipper!
start smaller. then gradually work your way up to 1/2 bolts
btw, only thing i'm worried about making my boat a long shaft is if it will support the new motor seeing as the main supports are at the bottom. did you reinforce the top?
I just got finished drilling 3/16" pilot holes so the large bit wouldn't walk from my punch marks, then bored them out to 1/2".
I only ended up extending the transom 3" so I'm confident that the 1-1/2" board will support the weight. If you look at the taller transoms anyway, the knee braces do not go any higher on them than the shorter transoms. There is no additional support at the top but the thicker transom cap I made add some stiffness, I'm sure.
