Noiiiice!! It must feel great to have rebuilt something as nice as that to put under your boat!! Talk about CLASSY!! I feel your pain with the lonely projects too!! Can't wait till you pull the protective film off, ehh?? Altogether great job your doing there mate!! Your gonna be grinning ear to ear on launch day... then the first time you pull into McD's before an excursion. Your gonna have to answer some questions to the people looking over your lil boat, before your allowed to leave! good days ahead!!

Re: 1962 Arkansas Traveler restoration

Glad you liked norm!

Thanks Bob!

Got the windshield in tonight. It required 6 "T" Bolts through the raile system in the bottom of the frame and some silicone around the holes. Then I siliconed the the space left(1/8") on the top and bottom frame(I hate Silicone!) and pulled off the tape and paper. I will wax it tomorrow with Mequires Plastx.

I'm very happy how it turned out for $100 lexan, a can of primer, and a can of paint! Time intensive- but saved me $400-$500 dollars.

Man, watching your thread is making me crazy...gotta find a temp job this summer cause my summer class didn't make, so no time to get my Texas Maid on the water for another splash test and then fine tuning the little stuff. Arrgh. Can't wait to see your pix of the first splash run after you tie it all up.

You ROCK Mick!! The windshield turned out fantastic!! Seeing it in "clear", hides the lack of concave you were looking for a few posts back, ehh?? I know I'd be very happy just the way it is!! Cheers!! What a handsome lil' boat!!

That windshield looks great! Awesome job!

It would be cool if you were watching the fireworks from the boat on the 4th!

Hey Mick,
That windshield turned out great.
It looks like you paid 400-500 for it.
Great job.

Hey Mick the windshield and trailer really turned out great! You will be happy later that you spent the time on the trailer! I was today when I put Miss Morgan on hers...makes life easy at the ramp. Any ideas on the name?

Re: 1962 Arkansas Traveler restoration

Thanks guys for all the comments- they are greatly appreciated!

Arch I agree now that with these old boats being brought back to life that you mine as well go ahead and spend the extra couple days to make the trailer look just as good- especially if it is as old as the boat:)

I got the rollers cut to size, put in place, and got the push button stops on the rollers. I also put the bow keel roller loosely in place and put on the jack.

I just got done doing the windshield with Plastx. One thing I will mention with the lexan is that it is "flimsy" in the middle. Remember it is only 1/8" thick. Still, if I get 4-5 years out of it before I splurge for a new glass windshield I'd be very happy. I did notice in the one corner there was a spider crack in the plastic:( I don't know if there was any way to avoid this but again, it's an 1/8" plastic home made job intended to save you money- for how long? We'll see!

I'm in the process now of making a template for my motor mounts. I don't know how many other mottor have what I have, but my motor has two brackets that get bolted down through the transom with 2 bolts each. Then the motor sits in them and there are bolts on the brackets that go into the motor.

It says in my manual to use the provided template but I don't have that:(

so right now I'm putting the brackets on the motor, taping them in place, and then I am going to drill my holes. I will use apiece of cardboard on the other side then to get my template. With the new transom being a bit higher, and with my outer holes on the transom being filled during the filler process I can't just go back and reuse- I'm basically starting over finding my ceter point and mounting points- not fun!

Well- back to work!

Thanks again for the comments:)

No need Wood! After about a thousand times going over the measurements on the motor I got everything correct and I got the brackets mounted!

Re: 1962 Arkansas Traveler restoration

Great job on the MM's They are different than mine. I did some work on mine over the weekend. I am trying to organize them and download to the computer. Will try and get my Post up tomorrow. She is a Naked lookin thing right now. My brother in-law helped me get the motor off and he is gunna rebuild her for me. I stripped everything else. Got a lot done. Now just need to get her off the trailer, build a stand, flip her and get to work on the hull. Maybe after the 4th. Will try to get pics up tomorrow. Hurry up and get that boat splashed. I am geting anxious. You have done a great job. Have you given her a name yet????
