Awwww, crap! sorry about the mishap. I once heard a story I don't believe about a local guy who would buy a new car and he was really paranoid about that first scratch in the paint, so he would take a hammer and lightly hit the car near the rear wheel well, so he could stop worrying about it.

I know that's crap, but it has helped me with my cars (which are NEVER new when I get them) when I get that first noticeable mark/scratch/dent.

Sorry for this lame story, but I feel your pain!! GGRRRRR!!!!

Sounds like GT has it covered for you WOG.
I would think the first way is the fastest but IMHO the second way should be better way to do it. More work but a better out come.

Hope you get it worked out soon.

How's the explicative well? Empty yet? GT1M seems to have you covered with the details he posted. Hope it get's it for you. Sounded like a good way to fix it & blend the repair.

I stopped at Spencer's tonight for you, but they were all out of the faux bullet hole stickers:D

Wood, I just woke up in the middle of the night and realized that distractions while trying to give someone instructions can be a bad thing!

I made a BIG, HUGE mistake in one of the steps...

The part about leaving the previously sanded areas untouched by the finer papers..."IMPORTANT NOTE"...

NOT! four or five grits, should only read...

3, Three grits...

let me clarify...

from the center out to the 600/800 grit edge, it should all be 320/400...this is paint ready...

The 180 grit part is just to quickly remove the damaged area.

Sorry about the confusion...

Wood, sorry to hear about the dings in the BF paint.

GT1M is a great guy, waking up in the middle of the night to set things straight. Way to go GT.

Ouch. But- Remember- It happens. It will happen even more when the boat is in the water. The first trip out on the Citation I had an anchor land on the deck.

The repair should be easy, and no one but you will ever know it's there. If you are like me, however, every time you see the boat, your eye will go RIGHT to that spot ;)

Guys, I REALLY appreciate your kind comments. I am totally bummed out about this. I KNOW all of your comments are spot on but I keep kickin my butt for being so clumsy. If you remember It happened with water when I first painted her and now again. Seems like I'm NOT supposed to get this finished. Now the weather man says cold for a while so I guess I'll leave it sit for a while till I calm down and can think positive again. I'm thinkin about gettin my son back over here. He seems to have a calming effect on me and helps me see things more clearly when I get like this.

Brutha,

First sorry bout that! I remember installing the 340 into my freshly painted 1969 Barracuda.... Well lets say it was only fresh for a day or so....... :(

You and we will be the only people that know it exists! And I'm betting after you repair the area, it will be invisible...

Rock on!

Hey Woody .... Sorry to hear about the paint. I wish I can give you some advise to help you but I am clueless when it comes to paint. You may want to find an old heavy blanket and cover her while she is sitting. It may give you a little protection.

Well we got that out of the way :). I remember running over the plywood with Miss Morgan on the first day out...... There is always the first chip! I bet you can carefully dab some paint in the chip, wait for it to cure, then color sand it. at least its not a metallic....those are about impossible to fix.

Ok, I got sidetracked a bit this afternoon. I was GOING to clean the shop a bit and was GOING to clean out the boat (It has become a storage compartment) when I ran into one of the original Back to Back seats. I decided to QUICKLY take the cover off of it so when we get some really cold days I would have an upholstery project. This is the seat section with the "Backs" section removed. I am really thinking about restoring these and documenting it. I have seen several requests for people wanting to build their own Back to Back seats. this plan is fairly simple and Straigt forward. We'll see how my time goes. I HAVE to get BF1 Splashed, and then there's the possibility of BF2, and the "Tower of Power" and..... Man I'm busy!!!!!

Well.....I got the cover off and...

For those of you that thought my Wal-Mart Plastic bag idea for your boat seats was a little hinky. Take a look at this.

Photo0380.jpg

Looks like the boys at the Lonestar Factory went to the closet in the bathroom and took the plastic cover off the toilet paper to use on the seats that day back in 1961:eek:

That plastic wrap is too funny, thanks for sharing! You do awesome work wood, you never cease to amaze, keep it up bud!

Uh Ohh. I got an e-mail last night from Jeanne and Phil in Texas about the Tin Can! Seems the just never got around to returning my call but they DID finally respond to my multiple e-mails. It appears they have the titles for the Boat and Trailer but not sure about the Motor. Phil is going to look into that using the current registration #'s and get back to me. IF it all pans out, I will be making the 21/2 hour trip to take a look. Does anyone have a spare room I can sleep in until my wife kools down. If I bring a boat home now, I KNOW I will be kicked out of the house for a while. Maybe, I can fire up Mr. Heater and sleep in my shop. I hear we might have a snow storm coming this weekend though.

Is it too late to have additional modifications to the 'for use in & out' of the boat bench?

Fold-out convertible sleeper bench!
(insert smiley of your choice <<--- iBoats wouldn't load 'em)

Safe travels & I hope you can NEQ a screaming deal!
