Luke,
Super job!! Been tagging along since the beginning. IMHO keeping at least the paint scheme in tact as the original designers intended no matter the color choice is awesome and accentuates the lines as they were intended. You hit a home run in both cases in my book!!! Bask in the reward for your effort!

Thank you everyone for the compliments! I'm glad to see you like it as much as I do! From here on out it is my favorite part where stuff gets to go back on the boat.

With the holiday weekend coming I So two days of in a row so tonight after work I am going to go pick the boat up from the shop and bring it home and try putting the motor on tomorrow so I can start to run all of the mechanical.

Also while I was at work today a freight truck made a special Saturday delivery!!! Straight from UPD plastics in Florida!

Quick question! I am mounting the motor and I have it all bolted down; is this gap between the motor tabs and the transom normal/acceptable?

Good! I sealed the bolts with 5200 so there is no going back now! I will get a few more things done tomorrow and post a little update.

Steering system question... I am about to pull the trigger on a Teleflex SeaStar SS13719 Safe-T 19' Quick Connect Rotary Steering System , I measured it out and 19 feet will get me what I need with about 8 inches extra. My question is what is the consensus on the SeaStar rotary systems? Good go-to kit?? I don't think I would have enough room for a rack style system.

Nothing wrong with the rotary. You'll like it on your boat cuz you're NOT gunna be cruising @ 40mph. R&P is a bit smoother and stronger for the Big Boats.

I would use that system for an I/O config with power steering but for an outboard you may want to look into a no feedback type cable. Does your motor have TnT on it and what was the HP again?

The engine is a 70HP Evinrude triple without TNT. I think no matter what steering system I do will be better than the cable and pulley system I pulled out. :yuck:

Yeah for sure a rotary helm is better than cable and pulley. I have a rotary helm on my Chief but the 4.3L has PS. My SN has a R&P with a 55 HP and it was a real bear to steer with the torque to the right until I got the TnT and could trim it out when on a plane.

I recommend doing a search for no feed back steering systems and then make your decision after reading up on it. I'm just afraid you'll be fighting that torque bear and not be as happy as you could be otherwise.

Thank you for the encouragement, I just bought the NFB 4.2 kit. I figure it was worth the extra $60 in the long run to be happy with the steering in my boat!

Good choice Luke, you won't be sorry about spending that extra 60 bones on the NFB system.
